As usual The Bluegrass tent really only has 1-2 true bluegrass bands and the rest is more generic Americanay (still normally all greats bands but not bluegrass). Steep Canyon Rangers are the most traditional bluegrass, Sam Bush is bluegrass with jam/jazz elements, Sara Watkins is definitely capable of bluegrass with lots of folk as well. John Moreland is straight country, really, really good country. The Wood Brothers are more along the lines of americana (traditional americana not mumford hey ho americana) with lots of blues, roots rock elements.

I was at Delfest in Cumberland, MD last weekend. I guess you could say The Wood Brothers almost offered an apology to the bluegrass folks since they are not bluegrass. Not everyone at Delfest is bluegrass. I thought the Wood Brothers did a great job. Someone told me that they were his favorite band. I saw the Steep Canyon Rangers at Charm City Bluegrass Festival about six weeks ago and they were one of my favorite bands. I was wishing they would have been at Delfest.
