I think I'd prefer something a little more progressive in the folk scene, a la Courtney Barnett (not saying her specifically but more out of left field bookings) than Dispatch. It's strange because they seem too obvious of a choice but have never made it there.

Newport has never gone too heavy on jamband stuff. Really Chad Stokes solo would be the better choice. But it's not like having Dispatch would prevent us from having something like Courtney Barnett.. Would you consider Mitski, Lucy Dacus, Woods, Ron Gallo, and Sam Cohen in the realm of being progressive? Because there's a decent chance that at least some of them will be there. There aren't many "progressive" folk artists that would be billed as high as Dispatch
They've stated there will be more festivals announced, but yeah I guess his rumor wasn't so well-informed after all
The only road block is Dispatch and Guster playing Levitate fest ate in Marshfield, MA but it could be they have to wait for that festival to be over and they can announce it. Guster said there will be some late additions to their touring schedule on today's announcement. Be cool if they both could play a set.
"You look like you're listening to every note." - Lady to me during LCD's "final" show 2023: Mar 29 - Guster Apr 6 - Postmodern Jukebox Apr 26 - Father John Misty May 14 - Taylor Swift (Philly) May 17 - Robert Plant and Alison Krauss July 12 - moe. July 16 - CAKE (Portland, ME) July 28-30 - Newport Folk (#12!) Dec 8-9 - Goosemas!
"This duo leads group songs; there are no auditions, and the audience is the choir. Just show up and they'll teach you an original arrangement of a song you love."

This is perfect for Newport, especially in a year like this. Looks like they invite people to just drop in and sing songs with them whenever they want.
Edit: personally, I despise a capella music, but this is speaking to me.
So while on my minimal FB time in Mexico, I saw the Marlon Williams announcement. Except, I read it as Marlon Wayans. I spent the last few days wondering what kind of music he played.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Hey all, got bored at work and made a mock. Impossible to foresee the weird things they might pull, and a lot of this is just what I'd want to see. It's definitely a little stacked, and I kind of hope it's worse so that it's not just conflict after conflict all weekend

Saw Ladysmith Black Mambazo tonight. They were absolutely amazing. I've been pushing for them to play the fort for a while now. They'd be a perfect alternative to the Berklee Choir.
