Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Try Frankie Cosmos, Girlpool, Snail Mail, Japanese Breakfast and Yowler. Those are pretty similar in style, imo. Mitski could be lumped in generally, as well.
E: Should have just given you the link to The Epoch: theepochisnow.com
collective of musicians that Ó is associated with. All kinda have that K Records/lo-fi sound.
I'm realizing I have a deep love for Vampire Weekend. In addition to being great pop songwriters, I love the cryptic and erudite nature of their lyrics. Vague enough to put your own meaning on them, but dense and carefully constructed enough that you know they put thought and effort into it. This is the same reason I love They Might Be Giants, although TMBG can be even sillier than Vampire Weekend.
I'm better with listening to new music than your average person, but not as good as most inforooers. These days in particular I spend 90% of my listening time on dance music rather than pop or rock. I'd love to have some recommendations for bands or albums that scratch the same itch Vampire Weekend does for me.
Recommendations should include:
-Strong pop songwriting
-Creative, vague, and dense lyrics (i.e. no "I love you baby you are like the sunshine of my world babe I love your butt I kill myself without you"). Emotionality is fine but I'd like it communicated more creatively and with more detachment (see VW "Step")
-Clean production preferred, but I'll try and look past terrible lo-fi "we're embarrassed of our music so we record it to sound like shit" production if the band is talented enough

No I actually like these kind of answers. Gives me more options to try. The goal of this is also to get my parents to listen to better music lol
