I have the time off but it's a 20 hour drive from ATX. I would love a double dose of lotus, P^4 is fantastic and a couple others in there would be dope (particle, broc sam). Alas, it jusy probably isn't in the cards.

Do you get Broccoli Samurai down south? They have been great at the bits of sets that I have caught but I never know which of these bands are more local Northeast or actually tour full country,. They seem like one that I see at a lot of small regional fests around here.

Not often, but we got them at Euphoria in April. That set was awesome. I had it rated #4 and ahead of pppp, GRiZ, Lettuce and Bassnectar. I particularly enjoyed the cover of Spiritualize and happened to have been wearing a Lotus shirtt which they threw it up for me at that point so I decided to sing the spiritual chant parts. Haha. I wasn't up on stage but with VIP, I was right there. Show went into UM's keyboardist's side project Digital Tape Machine which was also pretty incredible.
As for Lotus, who is of course my favorite live band, I just hope the new album (which I generally do not like) comes off more experimental and jam live. I'll see them either 9/30 or 10/1 in NOLA, so I'm interested to see how much they mix in and how far do they stretch the pop songs for their decidedly non-pop audience.
I luckily walked up to Broc Sam as they were playing that cover and was thoroughly confused/amped up. Euphoria def snagged a few gems buried under the edm. It will be interesting to see where they go w that fest. The fest has had steady growth but that venue is reaching capacity and is very risky when weather is rough (Levitation and Untapprd both cancelled).
I doubt I do this but Im going to keep my eye out next year. Theres some recap videos on youtube that make it look perfect w access to a lake, plenty of trees, camp space, ect. Id say it attracts 2-3k when looking at the crowd sizes.
Looks like therevare kids in a bunch of the pictures. How kid/family friendly is this? If you arrive Saturday morning how will your camping area be? Someone on the Facebook invite said there were late night beach sets. Sounds awesome.

I think if youre withing 6 hours drive of this fest and have time you should go. Im madly tempted to see if there are cheap flights to anywhere within an hour but I really, really need to chill as I have 5 fests coming up fall.

Yeah we are about 3.5 hours. Been placing hints with the girlfriend all day. Hopefully talk her into it this week. Haha

I wouldn't wait until Saturday. They have an overflow camp down the road. But the spots fill up pretty quickly.
Broc Samurai are super cool dudes. I went to school with their (ex) bass player's brother and they are all chill and super talented. I;ve been hoping they're popularity spreads outside Ohio/Great Lakes area and it seems like word is slowly spreading. Wish I could make Summerdance this year to get my fix of Lotus but financially it just isn't in the cards. Have fun!

Someone on one of the Facebook invites said that they increased camping spots from 450 to 900 so that they wont have to use the off site lot. I hope that holds up if we go because I dont think there is any way we can do Friday with work schedules.

That would be helpful because if I remember correctly, they were into overflow by Friday afternoon.

You walk to get the wood and then walk back to your site. Some people have elaborate campsites. But officially...no. Sets are normal times. Hour for pre and more for Lotus. You can leave and come back. But it's more fun to stay and swim.
Just a little disclaimer since we're on Inforoo and a good number of you are going to summerdance for the first time.
It's nothing like Bonnaroo. You're not going to be pampered. But you can bring a cooler to the shows. The pizza is better. Bring a float for the quarry.

Also, all night there will be impromptu sets in the woods. Drum circles. Or DJ sets. Etc.

I'm back after a year hiatus. 2014 was one of the best weekends Ive had with music/festivals. Excited to be back at the Ledges for Two nights of Lotus and Pigeons!!!!
There is now a guy who rides around with firewood for $20 for 3 bundles and 2 bundles of starters. And he has ice. Hundreds of more camp sites, although many are primitive sites and need taming. But you get cheap food and you bring booze to the stage.
How primitive are we talking? Like do I need a machete or is it just a clearing? Do people bring large tents? Most of the pictures show a few smaller tents scattered around but we would need something big for the family. Really trying to talk the GF into this. Hopefully it works.
Most sites are made to hold 3 tents plus 2 cars. I have a VW bus that I sleep in, and a 10x20 canopy over it. That fits easily. Last year we went in on Friday morning and we had the bus, a 10x20, another 10x10 and Karen's big tent on our site, plus a car and the campfire area with chairs.

Great time at the Ledges this past weekend. Its been a couple years since I've been and I have to give props for the organization as far as getting you to your campsite and preventing a camping free for all that seemed all to common in the past. They also expended the campgrounds a lot since I was last there and I camped in a newer area, (where we had to drive/walk over that small stream to get to our site.)
Lotus was great as always, I just wish they would actually have brought a guest to sing some of these new songs that all have lyrics. That being said they all translated well live. Anti-Gravity was especially awesome.
Pigeons Playing Ping Pong may have stolen the weekend, especially on Friday, what a great set.
Unbelievable weather, great atmosphere, can't wait to do it again.
Anti-Gravity is my favorite off that new album after Fearless. I'm glad it translates well live. PPPP will one day be on top of these jam line ups if they continue to just tear it apart like they do. Next level jam funk.
This will be a definite next year for me. Glad ya to hear it was a good time.
