What do you guys think of the Tel Aviv ban and his beef with Thom Yorke? I don't really consider myself well versed on the whole issue so I'm not going to really preach which side is right. I do think Anthony Fantano had some great points though
I've been going back and forth on it. On the bigger picture I tend to lean towards Roger's side (not to get to into politics) but I do kind of see where Thom and other artists who play there are coming from.
However I think the "Well we disagree with American politics and we play there all the time" defense that Thom has used is a false equivalency.
My position would be that if you're going to play, use that opportunity to speak out
I feel like it's tricky, but at the end of the day I'm taking Thom's side. Roger has probably played multiple cities where there is a 'bathroom bill' in place (Houston included :/) and I don't see Bruce Springsteen coming out and throwing the statistics of discrimination and violence towards the LBGTQ community at Roger telling him to cancel his dates. Radiohead has been playing in Israel for 20 years, and the tension in the region goes far beyond that, and I don't remember this being an issue, since Roger didn't start getting super involved in all that until late 2000's. To me its a little like a former atheist-turned new Christian telling his atheist friends that they need to find Jesus, like dude, we're not going to completely change who we are or what we've done because this is 'your' thing now.

I think it's totally up to an artist whether or not they want to play in a controversial location and it doesn't endorse the government's actions in any way.
“We don’t endorse [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu any more than Trump, but we still play in America.”- Radiohead
burn
Thom has some sweet burns up his sleeve
Noel Gallagher: “No matter how much you sit their [sic] twiddling, going, ‘We’re all doomed,’ at the end of the day people will always want to hear you play ‘Creep.’ Get over it. I never went to fucking university. I don’t know what a paint brush is; I never went to art school.”
Thommy Boy: "I did. It taught me to respect other artists."
Yea, that was what my post earlier was about. They are pressuring to try and get it cancelled. I'd be annoyed since I've been waiting for this show since October.
A lot of politicians can't seem to differentiate between anti-Semitism and legitimate criticisms of the Israeli government. Or, don't care and use the opportunity to criminalize protest and dissent.
I just got a floor seat, fifteen rows from the stage, for $112 before fees. Holy shit I'm so happy.
Printed my ticket out, and it's for a lower level seat, not floor. I sent TicketsNow an email but since the concert starts in fifteen I doubt anything's going to happen with it. And I don't even have any proof because the confirmation email says lower level, but of course I didn't look at that until a half hour ago. So my only lone of defense is "I know what I saw", which won't get me very far. I'm trying to let it go before the show starts, but I'm not very happy at the moment.

Trust me, this show is better from further away. Enjoy the show

I like how they try to imply that he's a Nazi. Have these people even seen the show or listened to Pink Floyd or are they just missing the point THAT much?
Sounds like the Tennessean is pro-Radiohead. That's chill.
Also Roger doubled down on Thom.
I doubt the guy that wrote this even knows who the hell Radiohead is. And what did Roger say about Thom this time?
"Thom Yorke is wrong about not endorsing the policies of the Israeli government by playing there. Spokespersons of that government have said how excited they are, that this is the best thing that’s happened to their hasbara, which is the explaining to the rest of the world what a wonderful and precious democracy Israel is. And willy-nilly, when they cross the picket line, they are making a public statement that they do endorse policies of the government, whatever they say, because that is what will be reported in Israel and that is what gets reported around the world. That is why Radiohead are being so soundly criticized by anybody with progressive ideas about human rights, because they have taken that step."
The "are being so soundly criticized by anybody with progressive ideas about human rights" part is dumb.
