This correlates with how hip-hop/rap is probably the number one thing that is moving tickets right now. You are crazy if you are a major festival and don't book a big hip-hop/rap act in your top 3-4 and don't fill the high under-card with it as well.
So with Gorillaz confirmed, which of their collaborators will be on the lineup as well? Damon mentioned that for all of their shows they're trying to bring as many guests as possible for each date. Which of these seem like a good fit for the fest:
Mavis Staples Pusha T De La Soul Vince Staples Little Dragon Danny Brown DRAM Savages
cool another fest you can lie about attending, brian.
So I'm sitting at LAX waiting for a flight (only 4 more hours due to a delay FML) and I thought I'd share my thoughts on my first Coachella while it's all still relatively fresh in my mind.

Is Radiohead in play for this? I know Founders say they have been the #1 wish-list artist for Gov Ball, so if it works for them to snag them for Meadows since they'll be playing for the 20th anniversary of OK Computer then they'll definitely do it i'd say.
Well, this wouldn't be a festival thread if someone didn't ask for Radiohead, so why not. I'd say it's laughable, but I also didn't think Gorillaz would headline either..
why on earth would they book radiohead when they already have gorillaz
Are you joking or..
last years top line was Hip Hop - Hip Hop/R&B - Hip Hop - Shit EDM, and they seemingly sold out. why would they absolutely blow up that formula and be a completely different fest after the success they had last year?

You realize it probably has less to do with 'formula' and more just whose available?

Gorillaz already work with a ton of rappers. If anything they fit the whole rap thing, even though they might be a bit of a stretch. There were plenty of rock bands on the second lines and lower last year, so it's not like they don't book those. There's just something really weird to me about the idea that a festival would think about it like "Radiohead? Well, I mean, we already have Gorillaz. That's basically the same thing." Radiohead are a much better jewel in the crown of a lineup than Gorillaz, and literally any multi-genre festival (which Meadows is) would kill to book them. Only on /r/music, and apparently here, would Gorillaz be considered comparable to Radiohead.
I seriously doubt they're playing Meadows, though, or any more US shows for awhile. And that's kind of weird, because there are a lot of places they skipped on this year's tour *cough* Texas.
Jay Z announced for MIA down in Philly. Eminem doing Reading/Leeds.. Who would ya'll prefer: Kendrick, Future, Jay, Drake, or Em?
1. Jay-Z: Feels like a legacy headliner at this point and have never seen him 2. Future: Would be a party and I don't think it would hog the budget for acts/genres that are more up my alley. 3. Kendrick: He's the king right now and I'm sure that should would be great. 4. Eminem: I think it would be a cool and I've never seen him but I've heard horror stories about Eminem live these days. 5. Drake: I don't understand the appeal at all.
I keep holding out hope that one of the headliners will be a big alt/rock/indie act but don't think that will happen.
I think it depends how many headliners there are. If it's 3, then all you're getting is Gorillaz because 1 spot will be dedicated to hip-hip and the other will be big name edm or pop.
If it's 4 or 5...then who knows. I believe that the Founders guys have good enough taste to stay was from Image Dragons and Twenty One Pilots.

I dont think they would ever book Twenty One Pilots unless they absolutely had to, no other option.

Is that due to them just flat out hating 21P? Love em or hate em, 21P would move a ton of tickets and I can't imagine their ask is THAT high.
