I didn't exist yet but I'm still pissed Jethro Tull beat Metallica for Best Metal Performace in '89. The Grammys have always sucked. Just being nominated should be honorable enough at this point.

Anyone who takes the Grammys seriously is setting themselves up for disappointment. You could have guessed who was going to win by cross-referencing total album sales w/ the Billboard charts. It's a popularity contest, not a determination of superior artistic effort.
Next year, Bastille, the 1975 and Imagine Dragons will get lifetime achievement awards.
Speaking of the Oscars being so white... So you're going to tell me that last year 1989 was better than To Pimp a Butterfly, and that 25 is better than Lemonade?!
White women with numbers for album titles = Grammy wins, I guess
I repeat, the Grammys are an absolute joke.
I have a much bigger problem with Beyoncé losing to Beck a few years ago than this year's result.

It's a poor mixture of both. This is seen in Beck winning AOTY over Beyoncé a couple years ago. There was backlash to that so the next year they gave it to TSwift (which yes was an inferior album by far, but still generated massive hits) I feel like the Grammy's can't pick a side over accessibility or truly acclaimed music. Though I would say of all the music award shows, the Grammy's does the best job at representing good music

This.
It's not a popularity contest, nor a measure of assessibility, when you have a precedent set in the past of picking relatively less popular and accessible albums.
2015 - Beck over Beyonce, Ed Sheeran, Pharrell, and Sam Smith 2014 - Daft Punk over Kendrick, Macklemore, Taylor Swift 2011 - Arcade Fire over Eminem, Lady Gaga, and Katy Perry

Chance winning over Chainsmokers, did not see that coming.

The Grammys actually got this one right. The album noms were bad this year too. Blackstar should've gotten a nom over Views or Purpose.

Bey got screwed
#hot-take
This felt worse than Beck (Morning Phase is a great flippin album) beating Bey. Lemonade was revolutionary in every sense and should have earned the AotY.
25 is Adele's worst album. Hello was massive, but the rest of that album was forgettable. Song of the Year- sure, but Album. (insert Trump- Wrong gif)
Chance the Rapper was an absolute star last night though.
Sturgill with the Dap kings horns was fantastic- definitely best performance of the night, IMO.
