The January date is for the physical release. The difference in his streaming and physical release date struck me as odd when the album first came out.

Once complete, it was important to Hansen to release Epoch as a surprise album. “I've never been fond of handing in an album then waiting 4 months for it to be released,” he said. “I wanted to be more connected to the people consuming the music. There is a kind of visceral fulfillment you get from sharing something that you've just created with other people. That's a very satisfying feeling as an artist.

How many albums are you guys usually trying to listen to a month? Also, when is voting cut off? I really want to participate in this next year.
It depends on the month. I try to get to all the releases that I feel I have a reasonable shot of really liking. There are always going to be ones that fall through the cracks. Just the way of things.

I usually try to give stuff I know I will probably like a listen, plus stuff that pops up a few times in the "Now Playing Dos" thread. And even though there are albums that aren't really my style but seem to be getting a lot of critical traction, I'll give those a listen as well to have a frame of reference (eg: I am not personally a big fan of Frank Ocean's blonde, but I gave it a few listens anyway).
voting is friday after the last friday of the month, midnight (central time I think?).
you should participate. don't feel intimidated. someone will always put their terrible taste on display at some point.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
I've listened to this xx album twice. It's just fine. There's so much goddamn romantic brooding. The production is great, but three albums of essentially the same thing just isn't my cup of tea anymore. My lady made an excellent point: if you kind of drown out the singing, like looking at a painting and un-focusing your eyes, it sounds great.
I won't lie to myself anymore: If I'm looking past their voices to enjoy it, that probably means I just don't enjoy it.

I listened to a lot of trance music circa 2005, so ignoring the vocals and listening to the production was something I've picked up on.
