Chris Thile (punch brothers, nickel creek) and Brad Mehldau (jazz pianist - put out a great album with Joshua Redman last year) are putting out an album later this month.
Mandolinist/singer Chris Thile and pianist Brad Mehldau, longtime admirers of each other's work, played a two-night stand at New York City's Bowery Ballroom at the end of 2015 before going into the studio to record Chris Thile & Brad Mehldau, a mix of covers and original songs. "Chris Thile and Brad Mehldau come from different worlds but the same species," says the New York Times. "Mr. Thile is a progressive-bluegrass pacesetter; Mr. Mehldau is the most influential jazz pianist of the last 20 years. Both are team players." - nonesuch records

New King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard
NOTHING IS SACRED IN OUR WESTERN MUSIC. OVER HUNDREDS OF YEARS OUR MUSIC DE-EVOLVED TO FEATURE LESS EMPHASIS ON RHYTHM AND MORE ATTENTION TO HARMONIC IMPERFECTION. OUR ANCESTORS ENDEAVOURED TO CREATE A SYSTEM BASED ON PERFECT 5THS YET WE END UP WITH A SERIES OF SEVERELY OUT OF TUNE 3RDS AND WONKY HARMONIES. BACH COMPOSED IN SOMETHING CLOSER TO JUST INTONATION . MODERN PIANOS ARE TUNED SHARP AT THE TOP AND FLAT AT THE BOTTOM. VIOLINISTS INSTINCTUALLY BOW PERFECT HARMONIES IN ORCHESTRAL ARRANGE MENTS. BARBERSHOP QUARTETS INSTINCTUALLY SING PERFECT PERFECT HARMONIC 3RDS AND 7THS. THEY ARE RIGHT. WE ARE WRONG. TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS. WE CONTINUALLY DUMBED DOWN THE RHYTHMIC COMPLEXITY IN FAVOUR OF HARMONIC ENTANGLEMENT. HARMONIES THAT ARE OUT OF TUNE. NOTHING IS SACRED. AND NEITHER IS THIS ALBUM. 24-TET EVERYBODY. WRONGER THAN WRONG.

For hip-hop fans who like a little extra funk. CHECK OUT NICK GRANT. Young up and comer to the game. This song came out a couple months ago but his new album just came out and it is so good. Here is a little taste:
What you got back home, little sister, to play your fuzzy warbles on? I bet you got little save pitiful, portable picnic players. Come with uncle and hear all proper! Hear angel trumpets and devil trombones. You are invited.
