Number one easily. I can live with just Lana and DJ Snake, but Calvin Harris, Chainsmokers, Blink, the 1975 and flaming lips take up too many high spots for acts I don't give a shit about
Yall can go ahead and take The 1975 off your mocks. They're on a hiatus until next summer

God bless you, sir or ma'am. That's fantastic news.
I've always assumed that DM was a clear #1? Maybe I'm giving them too much love?
I'm generalizing but people under 25 don't have a clue who Depeche Mode are.
I’m 23 and love Depeche Mode, Eurythmics, New Order, Tears For Fears, etc. there’s still some youngins that have good taste. Would be estatic for DM to be on the farm. I just don’t see them being number one especially of Fleetwood Mac is there.

Yeah I'm right there with ya. Their hits just haven't permeated our generation enough to be a #1 at the bigger festivals

I can't stop thinking about it. I am so fascinated with this guys rise in popularity. How did we get to this point? Apparently Stone Cold Steve Austin is involved somehow?

Just curious—do you have a source for this? News story, tweet, etc. Not trying to doubt you on this. I only ask because one of our board regulars had heard differently—that the 1975 would be playing. Things can change, to be sure. We’ve just had so few nuggets of intel thus far that I had expected they’d play and be billed high.

The 1975 and their manager keep talking about their upcoming album Music For Cars and they're throwing around the date June 1st. I could only assume the release date so it seems unlikely for them to drop an album then immediately play a fest. I could be completely wrong though, they throw around June 1st every album but they're really emphasizing on it this time.

This isn't unlikely at all. An early June album release actually probably makes them more likely. That's the best way for an artist of their size to promote a new record and it happens ALL the time. Especially when you consider that they'll probably have a handful of singles to hype them up.
IIRC in 2014 Jack White's album came out literally two days before the first day of Roo

I mean tbh, if Stone Cold says so, who am I to say otherwise?

I think and hope that the 1975 will stagnate. It'll be really hard for them to reinvent their sound, and they've basically already reached everyone they can reach. They're still too popular though, and I'm saying this as someone who doesn't mind their music and thought they were pretty decent live.
its just unlikely for them to release an album in June and immediately do a festival
I agree with others here in that it could make them more likely. MMJ is another example: I believe Evil Urges was released the week before ‘Roo and they played a truly epic show that year.
It's pretty common for artists to use Coachella as a springboard for a new release.
Unless Deer Tick or the Avetts are playing, I doubt many bands will be using Bonnaroo for the same purpose.
Yeah Coachella's a completely different animal when it comes to that, but bands playing festivals right around album releases is pretty standard and a huge indie pop band that hasn't played Bonnaroo yet releasing an album a week before the festival seems like a pretty solid indicator

Regardless of the level of cache that Bonnaroo holds, it is bizarre to me that people are saying an album release around Bonnaroo somehow makes an artist less likely.
