Fucking wow, 2017 is probably the best year of shows that I've ever had and likely the best I'll ever have due to all of the opportunities I had to see artists that have been so influential in my life for the first time.

Im seeing Roger Waters next year, with you all putting him this high, I'm getting really excited about it (though it's in May, so still a long time) My list will come Wednesday though my top 10 is pretty much set I think.
That concert will absolutely blow your mind. I still am not over how fucking good it was.
Father John Misty in Columbus was also a really great show I went to. Don't know how to rank it but yeah top 10 forsure. Seeing him in a fancy theatre with really good sound was awesome. Encore of Magic Mountain -> Holy Shit -> Ideal Husband was an amazing run.

Would have put Pond on here but I'm going to see a full show from them next month rather than another 45 min festival set so I'll save them for next year. And Brand New would have definitely been on here as well but it doesn't feel right anymore.

Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
With seeing Oh Wonder last night, I saw my last concert of 2017 so I guess it's time for my list with favorite shows. First thing I noticed while ranking these was how many shows I've actually seen this year, it's never been this many (87! excluding DJ's..) The first half of 2017 was rather weak and didn't have much money either to go to a lot so a lot of things happend during the summer and overall second half.
25. Oh Wonder - Ancienne Belgique Brussels (12/12) ~ pit 24. Young Fathers - Dour (16/7) ~ front row 23. Millionaire – Dour (16/7) ~ front row 22. Royal Blood – Rock Werchter (30/6) ~ pit 21. Run The Jewels – Ancienne Belgique Brussels (6/11) 17. Francis + The Lights – Botanique Witloofbar Brussels (8/3) ~ front row 16. Lorde – Rock Werchter (29/6) ~ pit 15. edit: sad that Frank Ocean, Bon Iver, LCD Soundystem etc couldn't come to Belgium in 2017.. So here's me hoping they come next year haha

Tried to keep the fest sets to 10, but I just could not do it. Also, the Francis experience was so so so different between Boston Calling and Gov Ball, in a good way.
This changed drastically since June. Will take some time to update in the next week. I'm not even sure how many of my headlining shows here will stay in the top 10. Likely less than 3.

probably done for the year. lots of great shit this year, huge bucket list acts, a bunch of good small venue/intimate crowd shows, new venue in town, superbowl shows. Sinkane, gunn, and glazerr were my favorite small shows of the year. Roger, U2, Justice, Gaga shattered my expectations of stage production, your move 2018 touring bands. i also probably won't have a better experience with an orchestra than I did at Zimmer (also my friends baby was in the process of being born during the show, we like to think he was born during Lion King). Glazerr and Tim Hecker far and away the loudest shows I saw all year.
I'm really just in awe that in a year I saw Roger Waters, Robert Fripp, Trent Reznor, Morrissey, Jay Z, Bono, Thom Yorke, Black Francis, and Lady Gaga on stage, and saw Remain in Light, Hissing Fauna are You the Destroyer, and De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas performed in full.
Pretty sure I'm done with shows unless something comes up for NYE. Ranking's aren't really significant. I missed a lot of the big shows of the year and didn't do many fests, so while I saw more shows than any other year I feel like I don't have as many huge standouts. No Radiohead, Kendrick, St. Vincent, Gorillaz, Hans Zimmer, etc.

i would trade a big name for Cale, also wish Dave Harrington & Whoever he's touring with would stop by Houston some time.
Nice seeing that Angelique Kidjo at Carnegie Hall set on your list. I watched a bunch of that on-line including the Byrne duet. -------------------------- General Mathis,
6 Day for Night sets in your Top 25 is wild. I didn't pick anything up for the Top 10, but it was a Top 3 festival experience this year for me with only Jazz Fest nights (not the festival itself) and Voodoo slightly ahead overall.
I have 4 more shows this year, but I don't think any of them is likely to crack the Top 10.
Dirty Dozen's 40th Anniversary Party tomorrow night featuring Preservation Hall All Stars, Anders Osborne, Big Sam, Ivan Neville, George Porter Jr., Alvin Ford, Walter Wolfman Washington and more. (This is going to be great, just not Top 10)
Exmag <-- A Very Tacky Ex-Mas - should also rule, and I've been wanting to see them for a while
Herobust - New Year's eve show, but I've already seen him so many times. Hope this will be a trap heavy set.
What So Not ^^^^
Now it's just a matter of whether or not I'm going to be a complete non-committal pussy and tie Sigur Ros and STS9 Axe The Cables or if after 7/8 months I can figure out I actually was more blown away by one or the other. I'm thinking pussy. That's never happened before since I've been ranking favorite shows since 2010 (Tool, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Pearl Jam, Lotus, Lotus, Neil Young and PTR...)

That’s pretty strong. We have 2 of the 4 Tipper shows, Datsik and BLS. I’ve really wanted to see Black Label Society for a long time. That should be fun, plus I haven’t seen any metal or black T-shirt hard rock in a while.
1. STS9 Axe The Cables @ Joy Theater I honestly can’t say that either this or Sigur Ros was better, but I guess how much even better this was than I had hoped, it gets 1. Masterpiece show to cap Weekend 1 of Jazz Fest. Offbeat called it glorious.
2. Sigur Ros @ Saenger Theatre Anyone who saw the tour knows. It wasn’t a perfect setlist for me, but the show was still near perfection. The way they built that show was pioneering. And the sound they got as a 3 piece was pretty stunning. I hope to get another chance to see Sigur Ros in 2018. And if only once, I hope it would be in Houston at Day for Night, and I’d also hope they play at least one old catalog set of material like they were doing this fall in Europe.
3. U2 at the Superdome They have been at the top of the realistic want to see list for decades. I just never got a chance to see them. I’m most partial to Unforgettable Fire, and when Bad came on, I got up from my seat and went to the top of the stairs so I could scream that shit and hopefully not be noticed much for being a suck singer or for the tears that I wouldn’t be able to fight. Thanks to U2 for adding this show to the tour.
5. Foo Fighters at Voodoo Fest Fucked over by live nation with a 90 minute set, but the show was wonderful and proved to me again they are the best live rock band on the planet. Lots of the connected audience was in tears at certain moments. Having Queens drummer Roger Taylor’s son out to play drums while Taylor Hawkins sung Under Pressure was great as was the drum/guitar trade off. Fuck some haters because the FF are at the top of their elite game.
6. Tycho @ Buku Fest 3 months after the beautiful 2016 Day for Night set, I got to catch them again. And they were better. Blissful shit.
7. moe. @ Orpheum Theatre Night 2 of 3. Jambase featured this show. It was so fucking good and along with my #1 set shows why Jazz Fest nights are as good as they are. It was unfortunate that I couldn’t run the trifecta, but there was too much going on. Fwiw jabco told me Night 3 was also killer.
8. Ice Cube @ ACL Weekend 1 I was amped for this and knew it would be a big show for me. I hadn’t seen Ice Cube since like 92, and in a year where rap would take over the world - even if it ends up being only for a little while - he is one of the greatest. Chuck D is #1 for me, but Ice Cube is up there. He couldn’t do F the Police on the heels of Las Vegas, but he still brought the goods. Hopefully Jazz Fest or Voodoo bring him here in 2018.
9. GrizMatiK at Buku Fest Best wilding set of the year. GRiZ rules, Gramatik rules, GrizMatiK rules. Buku rules. Wild ass party show.
10. Pretty Lights pop up parade and show under I-10 NOLA remixed. Fun and respectful to traditions.
HM - Radiohead @ Smoothie King Center, Dave Chappelle's Juke Jive with Chance the Rapper, Vince Staples, Jarobi White, Kardinal Official, Estelle, etc., NAS with Soul Rebels @ Jazz Fest, Snoop Dog @ Jazz Fest, Stevie Wonder @ Jazz Fest, Widespread Panic @ Jazz Fest, Sleigh Bells @ Buku, Umphrey's McGee, Muse, Trey Anastasio Band @ Jazz Fest, Gramatik @ Buku Afterparty, Tim Hecker @ Day for Night Festival

After the show several people told me they recorded the whole thing. They all emailed them or texted them to me. I gave the clips to a friend who put that video together for me. So cool that the moment could be recorded and preserved like that.
I almost ran way because I'm not a good singer and performing like that is my nightmare. But in the split second I had to decide I just stepped outside my body went with it.
