This show is back. I'm halfway through the premiere. It's fantastic so far. Chidi and Tahani are standing out much more than the first season and now that we know their characters better it makes everything going on that much sweeter.
Ted Danson is still the best.
I know at least Dave Maynar is watching through season 1 and I encourage many others to jump on it as it was added to Netflix. But be warned that this thread may have spoilers for plot developments from Season 1 so try to catch up before browsing here. Unless you don't care about spoilers.
I watched the first season as it aired. Watching the season 2 premier tonight (you know since I don't have cable). I love that you started this thread!
I was absolutely thrilled with the premiere. It's a unique show that can be built on one type of conflict and switch to a completely different type of conflict. What started as a struggle with the self has fully changed into a struggle against the other.
I don't know how many times Danson will "reset" the scenario, but it's a great situational comedy device to have the protagonists return to a place of ignorance over and over again.
I also love that we are getting to know the characters that I guess we can characterize as demons. Their struggle with this new form of torture is funny. Loved Eleanor's soulmate running to the gym whenever conversation got too deep with Eleanor.
What I'm curious about is Michael's desire to create this new form of torture. Why would he risk performing this clearly unpopular experiment when the punishment for failure is him burning on the face of a thousand suns for all eternity?
Janet is still the best. I anticipate her and Jason will fall in love regardless the scenario.

This show is amazing.
While I saw others commenting that the first season wasn't as laugh out loud funny for most of it I kind of agreed with them but still loved the show and thought it was even funnier on a re-watch. But this past episode.....killed me so many times. Such a good one. Danson still rocks. Glad to see Mindy back. They also basically fast forwarded through a lot of the fan theories that were popping up quickly which is a good move. Can't wait for what's next.
this show's getting fun. i usually start to check out when things go off the rails, but this is pretty great. ted dansen slowly descending into madness as the attempt numbers go up was cracking me up. when he's recording the notes as she walks in and he's just like "sigh, snap" was great. the janet dying supercut was also pretty good. interested to see where the new team ends up. I hope we get more adam scott but since that other show he's doing was too important for Roo, who knows.
In news that should delight itrainmonkeys, I finished season one. I haven't watched any of season two as of yet but should get on it soon. Great show.
Did you see any of that coming? I didn't expect the first season to wrap up that way
There's always that part of you that wants to say you totally saw the twist. I feel like I knew something was off with everything throughout the season. Like everything was just going together too well for it to be coincidence. The big things for me was how there were two people there by mistake, how the two mistakes were so close and, out of a neighborhood the size it was, all the narrative revolved so tightly around this small group of people. That being said, I did not expect it being what it was exactly at all.

Though to be fair....he basically figured it out before everyone in season one when he told Eleanor that he thought they were on a prank show. I love this character. I mean....he wore a sleeveless tux to his own wedding.
Alan Sepinwall has another great interview with Michael Schur up today. Fair warning it has spoilers for everything published right now but none (seemingly) for the rest of the series. Give it a read.
I was on the train since I knew some of the big names involved (Mike Schur of The Office, Parks & Rec, and Brooklyn 99 as well as Kristen Bell and Ted Danson) but then got hooked by the supporting cast pretty quickly. Jianyu, Chidi, Tahani, and especially Janet are all fantastic and even better on a re-watch.

Our experiences were very similar. Of course I love seeing familiar faces in new shows, but it's even more fun to see new talent (new to me anyway) develop over multiple episodes/seasons.
