Why don’t they just do the thing Radiohead did in 16 where the card used to purchase the tickets IS the ticket?
You mean paperless tickets. Ticketmaster did away with it slowly but surely cause the New York ticket lobby kept doing its bullshit and taking them to court over anything that wouldnt give the ticket holder freedom to do whatever they wanted with the ticket. U2 was the last big big band to do it and they had some issues because people didnt listen to them to show up early to shows because of the system in place. There was a workaround paperless tickets anyway. You just had to go to the box office and say you lost your card and they had to print them out no questions asked. I just dislike the idea of being all digital and it leaves more room for scams versus real tickets. And i still want my ticket stubs. Or just revert even farther and make everyone buy tickets in person, aint nothing wrong with that!
Iron Maiden did it for several of their tours too (before Radiohead), but they moved away from it on their current tour. Seems like Ticketmaster are now holding on to barcodes to a date super close to the date of the show, I guess to make it harder to re-sell for a profit?
I have zero dog in this fight and don't care....but that press release that they sent out saying essentially that the entire tour sold out immediately was bullshit.
The MCR festivals are interesting in that none of the 3 have reported unusually strong sales on social media. If MCR demand is what some claim, then Atlanta should have sold out with them alone, and possibly RF Chicago as well.
Music Midtown Atlanta is $125 and has 25,000 capacity Aftershock Sacramento is $330 with a 35-40,000 capacity and has US exclusive Metallica headlining the other 2 days. Riot Chicago is $150 with a 40,000 capacity.
Hang Out was an unusually quick sell out that could be because of Eilish. I think it was 2012 Sasquatch that basically sold out 25k instantly because of Mumford.
Another thing is Rage added shows in 7 cities and still have SoCal/maybe ACL + Voodoo and some other red states to go. Easily 200-300k extra tickets Doobie brothers arena added 23 shed shows. 300k extra ticket Motley comeback stadium package added 7 shows - 300k extra tickets. MCR only added shows in 2 cities.

It's just a festival thing right now. I don't think any single act is going to push a big festival to sell out at this point. Over saturation with festivals now, there's too many, I think a lot of people rather spend 150 on a MCR show than 300+ to a fest where they mostly just want to see MCR. Unless it's someone as huge as a Beyonce or Rihanna. MCR has their niche and the reunion factor is driving their draw, Frank has his niche and his mysteriousness and rarity is a huge draw, but neither are probably simply big enough to push a fest as huge as Coachella to sell out. Having either at your fest is a win though.

The MCR audience doesnt understand the value theyre getting by going to a festival. Most of them are Warped Tour burnouts who think its gonna be some shit show. Hangout had the advantage of getting anyone that was shut out of the Eilish solo dates along with a bunch of other bands the same audience likes. Firefly is in that same boat plus has Rage on the line up. MCR had some limitations on tour routing in the fall because of the festivals they are playing so theres barely room except where it mattered to add more dates. And they probably dont want to truly oversaturate the fans with multiple nights everywhere so that they come back around next year and still sell shows out, except much much slower. The buzz will wear off on thwm really fast though and they will pop up on the butt rock festival circuit, then do a summer amp tour then 4k cap rooms with multiple nights in big cities to keep the money train going in 2 years. Riot will likely sell out the day the line up drops though. I think Rage does a stadium show in LA and its LA Rising 2 at The Coliseum. Prob the best way to have a giant crowd and a homecoming show without needing to play 5 nights at Staples or The Forum.

The places where the fests are don't have an MCR show though and the fest ticket is essentially the same as it would be to go see MCR at an arena show.
Assuming Frank is releasing a new album, I really hope he does it soon enough that we have time to digest and appreciate it before the fest. It's always harder for me to connect with live music when I don't know it very well going into it.

100%. There were a number of reasons I didn’t enjoy Kendrick’s 2017 set but chief among them was the fact that I’d basically not heard DAMN before the set.
Frank will do what he has done with his last few tracks and just released a remix of it instead of the real deal. So we’ll get a new album of remixes and have only heard them live twice ever.
Also in that GovBall AMA, someone asked if they were "taking a chance" on booking Flume so high on the lineup. The response was: "Flume is an arena act in NYC market. Could have done MSG or Barclays if he didn't want to play Gov Ball."
Is Flume's agent just straight up gaslighting the industry? Cause I chuckled at the thought of Flume performing at MSG, especially since the dude has never played any arenas in the US before.
this is exactly why i asked this question in the ama
So my RATM ticket to KC is reselling on Stubhub for nearly $700. If I sell it for a little under I can do Coachella all expenses paid for under $300 out of pocket. I would love to do this but the problem is StubHub is not letting me list my ticket because of the whole non-transferrable thing. Based off of what I read the policy is seldom enforced because it's just bad press for the venue and the artist. Any idea on how to get this thing on StubHub when there are other tickets up for sale for it?
Heres a question youll be able to answer eventually depending on what you did. Regarding delivery. were you given all of them as options? So you couldve chosen between etickets, flash seats, will call or mail? If it was only flash seats and they issue everyone the rotating barcode tickets then youll be in a slight bind to whoever you sell the tickets to. and its strange that stubhub isnt letting you sell on their site and others are. Just use somebody else or even ebay. State your terms and be very clear about it and im sure youll get a bite. Its still a viable place to sell tickets because you know how mich youre paying outright with no hidden bs.
If it's true that Frank's new album is going to be more upbeat and energetic, I think we're going to get a Frank show that no one is really expecting. I think he'll actually have a good amount of guests come out too.

You’ll have to list it on a site like Viagogo or Tick Pick. Maybe Vivid Seats if they’re allowing it too?

I picked flash seats😬
Ok, well you have on solution that involves lots of trust. The buyer will have to have direct access to your ticket account to use them if they are indeed rotating barcodes. If they dont check id’s to match names then youre good.

There's no chance I sell to someone I trust with that high of a markup. If I sell to someone I trust that much I'm giving them face value. Bummer, I'm gonna try to see if I can sell something I don't ever use

Maybe dumb question but can you change the delivery option?

I'll check
It will probably come down to the rep you get on the phone. Ive done it before and had no issues because they made money off the change of delivery, so why would they say no to a few more dollars. But axs is weird. You can try their live chat thing too and not stay on hold over the phone. It shows how many are in front of you.

Awesome! Thank you so much. I'll give it a try for sure. The payoff to this is worth the extra work.
Well Localchella doesnt seem to be that crazy this year. FKA at The Fox is prob gonna sell out pretty fast i figure...
Hard to say. You probably know she played 2 shows at the Palace last May. Tickets were way under face value on StubHub starting a few days before the event.
