The reasons to vote for Biden are pretty straightforward, I’d rather have him be president than any of the other candidates.
His environmental plans have been the most substantial thing any American president has done to even try to provide a livable planet for my children. This is something Republicans have promised to erase if put in power.
He’s not openly hostile to gays, trans folks, or women’s rights. Extremely low bar but the opposite of Trump and RFK.
It’s weird to give him credit for the economy but conditions here are better than basically anywhere else in the world. He deliberately bucked the “we need a recession and significant unemployment to tame inflation” consensus, and sent direct aid to folks to help them ride out the inflation wave and correctly predicted it wouldn’t trigger a full recession. Republicans were united against providing that aid to families.
I was one of the millions of people who received significant student loan relief, so points for that. I know he under delivered on his promises here but what he did manage to do faced opposition from the entire Republican Party, the Supreme Court and even pockets of the Dem Party.
Also stepping up anti-trust enforcement has been a small but positive change under his administration that would be completely reversed under Trump.
I support the way he handled Ukraine.
I do not support his response to Oct 7, but based on Trump’s coziness with Israel and RFK’s comments on Gaza I don’t think voting for them instead would benefit a single person in Gaza.
And while I’m concerned about Biden’s age I don’t think it has had a meaningful effect on his presidency. He’s surrounded himself with qualified and competent people (again, opposite of Trump and RFK), and I think a lot of the gaffes he gets called out for are the same types of weird things he’s always said. He called Obama “Barack America” one time back in 09! Meanwhile Trump and RFK spout made up bullshit all the time, you can’t trust a word that comes out of their mouth. I’ll take Biden’s occasional flub over that any day.
Thank you for this. I am just coming into this thread, and clearly I am not going to go back and read it all, but this is really well put and pretty much captures exactly how I feel. To expand on his age just a little bit... When I am voting, the Vice President is as equally important to me as the person running for POTUS. I would think that anyone with any sense would be able to deduce that if you are voting for Biden you are also voting for Harris. I feel like a lot of people can't wrap their minds around that, and that just doesn't seem like that difficult of a concept to wrap your mind around.
Okay I'll say it: it's time for a Coachella cum leak, even if its just a dribble. GV can only give us blue balls so many times before someone blows a load so messy that it scrambles the lineup placements.

I’ll also add too that my defense of Biden is from the perspective of “if you are gonna vote, here’s why it should be for Biden.” I get that a lot of people are looking at this situation and saying “fuck all this I’m not voting for anyone.” I think everyone should vote even if this slate of candidates isn’t the most inspiring to you, but voting for Biden instead of staying home is a more philosophical argument I’m not try to make right now. But if you’re gonna go through the effort of actually voting Biden just seems like the obvious choice.
I would also add that anyone concerned about Biden's "gaffes" should look up the presidency of George W Bush or even Trump for that matter. Both of them said some heinously nonsensical shit. At least Biden has the sense to not look directly into the sun without protection during a fucking solar eclipse.

I do not think Harris is the net positive you think she is. She brings very little to the table for him; she neither energizes the base nor the progressive wing, her only notable policy accomplishments are as a cop (with lots of red flags), she’s not an energetic or engaging speaker. Her approval ratings are as bad as Biden’s and getting worse (for years) while his are getting better (of late). She galvanized neither black voters nor women in the primary. In most ways I can think of she’s an extremely poor VP to address the concerns people have about Biden.

This. Gaffes don't really matter. Saying stupid shit that reveal that you are not well informed or that you believe evil shit matter.

Harris gives off big vibes of being someone who would sell timeshares

On Monday, former President Donald Trump announced his endorsement of Pastor Mark Burns for South Carolina's 3rd Congressional District. The pastor has previously exhibited extremist rhetoric towards LGBTQ+ and transgender individuals, calling for the arrest and execution of those he accuses of LGBTQ+ and transgender "indoctrination." Trump's endorsement threatens to swing a crowded Republican primary in Burns' direction. Given the heavily Republican lean of the district, Burns would emerge as the clear favorite to win the congressional seat should he win his primary.
Pastor Mark Burns made headlines in 2022 for calling for the return of the House Un-American Activities Committee to arrest and execute LGBTQ+ and transgender allies and individuals whom he accuses of "grooming." In a video released after his appearance on The Stew Peters Show, Burns stated, "The LGBT, transgender grooming of our children's minds is a national security threat because it is ultimately designed to destabilize the republic we call the United States of America. That's why, whenever I'm elected, I want to start holding people accountable for treason to the Constitution. I'm going to push to reenact HUAC... We need to hold people accountable for treason, start having some public hearings, and begin executing those who are found guilty of treasonous acts against the Constitution of the United States of America..."
You can watch clips of his statements from that 2022 interview here:
And now that I'm looking at it, SC-1 and SC-6 are blatantly gerrymandered. Looks like Charleston got split in half and they crammed all the black voters into the 6th.

There's a whole case at the Supreme Court alleging this that SCOTUS is just sitting on.

Republicans got what they wanted. SCOTUS delayed ruling long enough so that it forced the lower court - that already ruled the map was racially gerrymandered - to now say the map can be used in 2024.
SCOTUS is blatantly holding back rulings that would favor democrats. This case was presented in October 2023. Zero fucking reason to not have a ruling in time for elections when both parties in the case wanted it resolved in fucking January. Corrupt fucks. It’s the same problem with Trump’s immunity claim. Guaranteed they won’t release that ruling until June at the very end of their current session even though they can release rulings at anytime (took SCOTUS something like only 5 days to rule in Bush v. Gore in 2000)

Not a surprising chart, if you have followed the many polls that show most people say they're personally doing well financially but the national economy is in the shitter, but it's still shocking to see this laid out so clearly. What an utter dereliction of duty by the national media, exacerbated by social media boosting negativity above all.
Wow if Posty joins the peppas the set will be good. Maybe since JOhn FRusciante is back I haven't seen them with john frusicante so i'm looking forward to it.
I'm just tired of being tagged by Big ZIG in this thread tbh, so my responses are getting progressively less effort put into them.
My new plan is wait until November to decide which candidate ZIG likes the least and vote for them.
No one is forcing you to be here. Haha
Enjoy voting for Trump then. It’s not like we haven’t already claimed you’re a closet MAGA so feel free to continue deflecting all responsibility for your beliefs and actions onto everyone else but yourself.

You could also just stop tagging me
HAHA. I literally said that you always deflect responsibility and your response was to…deflect responsibility…
“JA big hurt, ZIG needs to change”
Maybe if you don’t like getting quoted or tagged, possibly self-reflect on why everyone, including myself, keeps doing it. Again, this is not a forced participation thread.
