You're stuck in the early 2010s. For you, music's been all downhill since Mount Kimbie made Carbonated.
One thing I thought was weird was how much it talked about me liking Frank Ocean. I don’t usually listen to him on Spotify because I own all of his stuff with all of it saved to my phone. I seldom stream him on Spotify and have only had it since the Uber game we played here

Well, that was really something.
I guess the important thing is that your music makes you feel good...

All around more accurate than the Spotify assessment and an absolutely brutal take down. I am literally wearing Carhartt right now.
neat little site that provides some stats on your listening. kind of like last.fm but for spotify, or like Spotify wrapped but whenever you want. can grab a picture of your stats to share. can create a custom URL to share.

I joined Spotify last summer but I'm not sure that I'm gonna keep it. It was initially to join in on JQBX sessions but I also wanted to use it since it's better than Apple Music at serving up new music. That being said, at this point it repeats a lot of the same songs and there isn't a place where it just shows me all the new album releases of the day like Apple Music does (it mixes in a lot of singles on the "New Releases" page and absolutely buries some big new albums), so I'm not sure how long I'm gonna keep it.
Edit: the point of this was to say that I just end up listening to so many playlists on Spotify that listening to full albums from an artist makes my stats not really representative of what I actually like.

You search for anything you want and it’s there.
Thanks, sang. I had not stumbled upon the concept of searching for something until now.
My point is that I'm not always able to go online to research new releases and then manually search for them. If I'm at the gym or driving (about 80% of my Spotify use), I just want to put something on without too many extra steps.

the point of this was to say that I just end up listening to so many playlists on Spotify that listening to full albums from an artist makes my stats not really representative of what I actually like.
the majority of my listening is in my "Hot 100" playlist, where I keep a list of 100 songs. when I add a track to the playlist I have to cut a track to keep it at 100. that makes it feel like I'm listening to certain artists a lot, but it can't compete with when I listened to king gizzard's entire catalog over a couple of days a few months back, so it looks like I'm a massive king gizz fan (I am a fan but not a massive one).
having said that, my all time list is mostly indicative of my real favorite artists. From my list, Phish, VW, Ween, They Might Be Giants, New Order, Nine Inch Nails, and David Bowie are definitely some of my favorites of all time. Goose is already #6 which is kind of shocking since I just discovered them this year. i wouldn't say they are one of my favorite bands but I'm clearly very excited about them. young thug i do like but don't listen to a bunch, he was just really prominent on my Hot 100 playlist when I started running this time last year.
i'll stick with last.fm, because that isn't limited to just spotify (i can scrobble youtube, my FLAC recordings from shows on the ipod, bandcamp, npr, etc).
Im personally pretty annoyed with how hard spotify is pushing the podcasts, and how they repeat the same songs all the time on the daily mixes and artist/song radio.

Love seeing headliners like Daft Punk, Tyler, the Creator, and Aphex Twin in tiny font. Also intrigued by karaoke with Hans Zimmer and Underworld's Gay Village Party.
