About a month ago I began saving all mine and my boyfriend's spare change... even went around the house scrounging it up from under the couch cushions and beds! I figured it would be the perfect way to pay for gas en route to/from Bonnaroo, considering the current price per gallon AND the fact that we'll be driving a gas sucking V8 engine SUV that takes about $50 to fill. The less money we have to fork out of our accounts at the last minute for this trip, the better. So over the weekend I counted it all out and so far we have $53!!
I think last year it took us about 1.5 tanks of gas each way... and I've already started up another change jar, so hopefully by the time June 9th rolls around we'll have enough to pay for all the gas! That will save us a lot I think. Anyhoo, just thought I'd share that helpful tip with you guys incase you're interested in doing the same.
I made myself a rule about two years ago to never spend my change, except for the occasional tip jar. It's such a great way to save some money, especially if you're not the budget-ing type. And it's always a surprise!
I'll be saving all of the change I make in tips from here on out. Normally I turn them in but I'll just hang on to them until June!!! You so smart!!!!! ;D
the spare change idea is great...i save up change in a big Culligan water tank. It adds up really quickly. In a way, I think spare change is like FREE MONEY because you don't pay attention to it, and then you count it and you have tons of money. Sweet...
