for those who have been before what do u reccomend to do for the ice situation for food, beer, and water? i am planning on icing things down before i leave but do they sell ice at bonnaroo? or should i bring an extra cooler just for ice? i am clueless...
Ryan, they do sell ice but the lines can get very very long, and if your campsite's not near an ice station, you may have a long walk carrying heavy wet blobs that threaten to slip out of your grip at any given moment. If you've got space, bring anohter cooler dedicated to ice (walmart has 5-day coolers for $20-30 depending on size -- keep stuff pretty cold for 5 days although your ice will eventually melt).
The five day coolers are the way to go....just make sure you go w/ the Colmeman brand!!!! It's a name you can trust. We've got one for extra ice as well as another just for our meats.....
and just for nutss and giggles....how much have they been raping us for a bag of ice in the past?????
From what I remember it was $8 for a large bag. We bought 6 and sold most of them down the line for $10 - no 1/2 hour wait for $2 extra. Paid for our ice every time that way!
Last year we passed a guy who was near our campsite selling ice from his ATV .. we asked him how much he wanted and said, "For $2 I'll give you all of it". So we handed him $2 and he gave us 5 large bags of ice... even delivered it to our campsite! ;D

I know that this is a little off the wall, but it works! We rent a half-size deep freezer and fill it full of ice (and food that needs to be frozen...like freezer ices....and plug it in to the generator a few times a day to recharge all of the ice. It works GREAT....If you dont have an RV....I think that praying is the only thing that will keep ice!! MS
If you're going to buy ice there, you might want to invest in a 5-day cooler with WHEELS. Having this helped out SO much last year. You don't have to lug around that thing and worry about dropping it! I think I got mine for $25 at wally world last year

Sadly I don't know how much dry ice costs. I've never really paid attention as we grab it during our pre lift off grocery binge. ( The Grocery binge has gone from a full menu of food and beverage to beer; water, ice and banannas over the past three years.)
Dry ice does freeze some stuff that it comes in contact with; but mixed with regular ice it will last all weekend. We probably had 3 beers freeze each year out of our 4 or so coolers. Not much of a hit really.
I don't recall the price either, but it was pretty damn cheap for one sheet to line the bottom of a cooler. Maybe $10 range? We really just used the dry ice to keep the regular ice frozen. If you're going to put stuff in with it, just keep regular ice between the dry ice and the food, beer, or whatever.
