From the past posts that I have read it appears that last year was the first year that camping only areas were available. I was wondering what all of your opinions are on this area versus the lot area? I certainly dont mind carrying my stuff as I pack light and there will be 5 guys to help with the load. Also what time would you suggest being in Manchester in order to get in as smoothly as posible.

I was parked right behind the walk in only camping. That area is really close to the back gate of centeroo. I personally like being camped a little ways from centeroo because the port o potties are a bit cleaner the further out you go. Other than the icky port o potties it looked fine to me.
There were lots of thefts from the camping only area last year. I wouldn't bring anything you expect to find when you return. Beer, coolers, sleeping bags, sunscreen, food, and chairs were a few things I've read about that "walked off".
People were so spaced out in the camping only areas, that the usual system of looking after your neighbors stuff (and them after yours) really wasn't working.
Petty theft is the only thing I've ever worried about in festivals. No violent crime, but lots of sticky fingers.
This area had prime location and it did not fill up until somtime saturday. that being said i agree with the previuos posts, its right in the middle(or front rather) of everything definatly dont worry about missing out on the "lots" The Admin on the krew of roo stated That they were serously looking into solving the "problems with the camp only area"(theft mainly i guess) i belive lockers were mentioned...
Curious ... lockers in the middle of a field-turned-90K-sleepover. Feels more airport-y than camp-y.
The main thing I noticed about camping-only -- besides the juicy front-row spots, which I totally coveted every time I walked by them -- was how waterlogged and muddy they got during the rains, and how lots of people ditched the muddy roads and walked through the camping areas to head back to their sites. Then, the superclose locations were a tad less appealing to me.
I was in the tent only area and I thought it was great, plan to camp there again. I got to 'roo ~noon on Thurs and the tent area was pretty empty so was able to spread out nicely. They let cars into the area late Thurs so it got packed then. I didn't hear about any thefts. We had a real nice community vibe going in out little neck of the woods, people definitely looked out for one another (especially when the storm hit and tents were flying). The best thing was being so close to the action, two minute walk to Centeroo. Plus in the morning the portajohns in Centeroo were nice and clean. If you camp there, choose some higher ground and stay out of the obvious shortcuts that people might take through the area.
All of a sudden it looks like I'm going...I wasn't planning to this year, but now I've got the FEVER, and I think I'm going "camping only" this year. That area is right where I was for Roo One, and the hundreds of steps saved will be totally worth it, IMHO. Roo is such a marathon; this will help a lot.
When the rain hit last year this place was a mess. Leo's advice is great...Don't try to get right on the front. Go toward the back of the camping area, up high. A couple of extra tarps will help to shade you and your stuff from prying eyes...
