my girlfriend and I are flying in and taking the shuttle from the airport. we are not going to have a car so I was wondering how safe it will be leaving all of our stuff in the tent for the day? also we were thinking about getting those small padlocks (bigger than the luggage ones, but smaller than the school locker ones) to lock up the double zipper on our tent somehow. do you think thats worth the trouble or should we not even worry about it? I really do not want to have to carry all of our stuff around with us all day.
i havent wittnessed, but i've heard about lots of theft at roo and other big festivals. i would be leary of leaving anything valuable at the tent. might want to consider not bringing alot of valuables that you dont want to pack around. padlocks dont stop thieves, they just cut the tent.
def. try to make friends w/ your neighbors, that is always a key.
I was first hand witness to a neighbor getting robbed at Roo 03. Me and my friends were just lounging out in our tent when we heard shufflers nearby. Luckily for our neighbors we were there and scared them off. Not sure excactly what they had. Probably a bunch of w00ks trying to make sandwiches.
your neighbors are the best security you're going to get!! Get to know a lot of folks around you. He11, if they seem cool ((let's face it, we all have a built in radar for that stuff)) maybe let them know your situation.

While I'm sure there is a lot of theft that goes on. From our experience we had about 8 coolers full of beer/food etc. that we left outside of our RV the whole time we were there. Granted we were in a camper for other valuables, but we also never got to meet our other neighbors. The only trouble we had was one night someone was trying to store a nitros tank under the camper, my husband went out and freaked them out. It was about 4:30am.....too early <?> to be up to no good.
Don't bring valuables with you. There's just too many things that could happen to them. Definitely get a lock for your tent knowing that it won't stop anyone who truly wants in. It might make it hard enough that they won't bother because your neighbors will notice someone cutting your tent open.
lock lock LOCK for your tents... and that's for everybody. you don't want a$$holes ruining your experience by coming back to a) some nasty wook all passed out in his/her own puke in your tent, or b) your tent just being GONE.
and make friends with neighbors. that's really the key. we're all there for the same reason. hopefully that translates into good neighborly conduct.
