Hello unlucky travelers. Your D&D adventure continues somewhere around March 20th. We'll do a poll when it gets closer to set an official date.
Cum did all the hard work of getting you set up. There are a couple little things I'd like from you which I've already mentioned to some. Please make an account on D&D Beyond
It will help me keep track of everyone's characters easier. That's the selfish reason. But also all my source books are tied to that website and that can't be transferred to Roll20. I'd have to buy them all again. I also have access to my brother's stuff. So it's a good bit of nerd money. The benefit to you is you'll have more options to build your characters there as you level up. I'd also argue Beyond is a little easier for beginners to navigate and get information but that's probably just because I'm used to it myself.
Anyway, once you start your account you can either transfer your character sheet manually or PM me a screengrab of it.. I can do it pretty fast since I'm used to the site. Head to the link for the campaign...
If you want to do your own sheet...Click "create unassigned character". You don't have to finish the sheet at the time. It will just add it to the campaign. From then on you can just access it from your main menu. If you want to send me a screenshot of your sheet. I'll create the character on there and you can just claim it when I'm done. However you want to do it. Just don't claim Barry GoldenSchlong! He's mine.
That's about all. You have time to look over your characters and see if there's any changes you'd like to make. Feel free to PM me with questions. I might do the same in the coming weeks.

A note on schedules. I've got a couple things in mind to work around the fact that it won't be possible to always get everyone together. I'd assume that will be rare. Some of them will be in game and some might involve me running two sessions in a week. But I think we can be creative enough to make it work. I think it works to our advantage that we have a large group in some ways. Hopefully we can always have a party big enough to play without being at a disadvantage.
I haven't decided exactly what the campaign is going to be. Probably a mix of homebrew and a classic adventure. I need to get some more experience as a DM before I'd write my own campaign. For now I just want to focus on everyone learning and having fun... and dying several times.
Can I get in on this? I have a lot of sourcebooks too and looooove me some dnd
Of course but let me see exactly what our numbers are looking like before I commit to introducing you in session 1. Sorry, I just want to make sure I’m not overwhelming myself right off the bat. But we can defo get you in the party.
You had mentioned one-offs in the other thread and I was going to reach out and say I’d be cool with doing that at some point as well. Maybe switching out DMing… but that’s for down the road.

So update. I think we'll push the starting session back to the week of the 27th for a couple reasons. One I'm trying to finish up remodeling the upstairs at my dad's and really won't have the time to prepare as much as I'd like. The opening session is pretty much ready to roll but I'm trying to learn Foundry and it's bells and whistles are somewhat complicated. I'd rather have time to make sure I have it all running smoothly and there's no chance of things blowing up in the middle of session 1.
But this is good. I'll have another week to plan and write out the world so there won't be danger of railroading players towards a small amount of material I've prepared. By next week I'll have the world more fleshed out and that opens things up to a more organic environment to interact with. Will make it easier to improv when y'all throw me a curveball... in theory. Don't go buy a bunch of horses and try to discover something on the other side of the world. Be reasonable.
You won't need an account to use Foundry. I'll PM a link/password to your character and you'll join the game on my server.
As of now we will still use the Discord chat for communication. Foundry has a voice chat option but I'd like to test that out before we try it in session.
I've added several modules that will transfer your character sheet from D and D Beyond directly into the game. All your attacks and spells should be in drop down tabs on the main screen

One thing I'd like next week is for people to come into Foundry and get a feel for how it works. It's not going to be all that different from Roll20 for players but we don't want to spend part of a scheduled session on getting used to it.
This shouldn't be an issue. I'll send your character links this weekend and will try to keep the game open at nights so people can stop in when they have a chance and just get a feel for how to control your character and look at your abilities, etc. At that time I'll also put up some Youtube tutorials if that's easier for you.
I'll also make myself available at night a good bit next week. Just pop unto Discord and message me. I'll chat with you about it. If some folks would like to schedule a time to do that together that works too.

Howdy.
- I've went ahead and sent most of you a link to your character. Just now finishing up the remodeling at night so I'm a little behind on setting up the site still. You should at least be able to log in and see the basic setup. I'll be working out the kinks the next couple nights.
- I started a poll that you should be able to change your vote in by the week. We'll communicate during sessions as well. Might end up keeping track of it on Discord in the long term. We shall see how that goes. PM me or post in the thread if we need to discuss scheduling, etc. If you think you'll be late but would still like to join that night let me know and we'll try to work that out. Shouldn't be a big deal most of the time.
Let's see how the votes shape up but hopefully we can start next week. If things shape up where a good bit of people can't make it but some of the newer folks can I might gather them for a little starter session to get them some experience before we start the main story.
Mondays and Tuesdays work for me- Mondays are better. I have an existing game on wednesdays
Yeah, I feel like those were the two main days people were looking at last thread. If we have a lot of folks that could do Sunday or Thursday I could add it to the poll but I feel like that's not the case. Could be options if it's just going to be a couple of us anyway.

FTR, I am working this upcoming Monday (3/27) but I should be home by 730p at the latest. I work Tuesdays pretty consistently right now. I am taking off all upcoming Mondays after this week specifically for this.

So it looks like we might have close to a full group Monday? We will plan on 8 Monday. If several folks can't make it we will likely do a detour so everyone can be there for the intro of the main quest. But it's honestly not all that hard to be brought up to speed on.
Let's say 8pm-10. Which is basically the original timeframe? Might run over a little depending on how things work and when a stopping point comes up but I'll always try to keep things to around 2 hours.
Some of you have messaged me about this. As of now people still aren't able to connect to Foundry. I don't understand. My router is already set up to allow access to my computer for Plex. It's something simple but it could take awhile to problem solve it.
Anyway, I'm just going to focus on doing the first session in Discord for now. I can actually just stream a 3D version of a map I made. So fuck Foundry we will be fancy. You'll just have to let me move your characters. You can use your actually dice or the dice on Beyond. The rest will be theatre of the mind.

Yeah, sorry. Was holding back till I heard from everyone and forgot to clarify the thread..
Let’s go for 8 tonight. We will just use Discord for now and I’ll stream what we need. We might try Owlbear Rodeo for an encounter but it’s not necessary at the moment.
Everyone just plan on using your own dice or the electronic ones on Beyond.
