Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I don’t get to compare it to the heyday, so for me, I’m getting excited.
Dave and Gillian Adrianne Sierra Ferrel Cunningham/Bird Cory Wong Brittany Howard Shovels and Rope Joan Baez War on Drugs
Is a solid “excited for” list for me. But Dave and Gillian go a long way in my book
Maybe the problem for me is that we were never alerted that the heyday was over. Ticket prices have continued to increase while the talent has noticeably dwindled.
Don’t forget that fest salaries have increased too!
Saw my chance for another salary jab and I took it!
Has everybody bought back in now? I'm still very underwhelmed.
Been going since 2014. This year is the most underwhelming/least excitement-generating lineup for my taste in music. I have a feeling the aftershows will be bigger names than the headliners.
Same. Unless if the last few announcements really wow me, there’s a good chance I’ll just stick with all three days of Jazz Fest this year and skip Folk
On the same day too. When I saw her name, I figured she’d be on Friday for that reason.
honestly though, looking back on last year's schedule its pretty likely that Brittany Howard and Cory Wong will clash in some manner with Andre 3000 and Kamasi Washington at NJF, so it'll be nice that I can catch them at NFF if I want
(though I will admit, i have no idea how they're going to slot Andre's set at NJF - he's top billed but his jazz sets have been pretty mellow and ambient, would be a really really weird way to close the Fort)
McBride just announced the Jawn details, and it looks niceeeee!

LOL
Lol. That's your battle. I think the team is deserving of the money they make based on past performance. Their primary focus is selling tickets and they do a great job at that. Their community-based initiatives have been brought to the forefront of their mission in recent years and they've instilled a strong sense of family that allows them to book weak lineups with very little negative feedback.
However, with a couple more lineups like this with salaries still increasing... I may be joining you in the battle against the Newport brass.
Upcoming Shows: June 20: Lana Del Rey July 19: Noah Kahan/Mt. Joy July 26: Newport Folk Festival August 7: Green Day/Smashing Pumpkins/Rancid/The Linda Lindas August 30: Waxahatchee/Snail Mail/Tim Heidecker September 17: Pearl Jam/Glen Hansard September 24: Idles/English Teacher

Cory Wong and Friends (mostly the friends TBH) did it for me.
The acts I’m excited for on Sunday:
Sierra Ferrell Mighty Poplar Dropkick Murphys Cory Wong & Friends Andrew Bird and Madison Cunningham (but I’d rather see him solo TBH)
Other acts I’m interested in, if there are no conflicts: LA LOM Tinariwen The Oh Hellos The Breeders New Dangerfield Maybe Palmyra
I’m more excited for the Sunday lineup than Friday’s last year, and compared to NJF in previous times I’ve attended, but I actually paid attention to the whole lineup, and I don’t attend many other concerts or festivals. The act popularity of the biggest acts is comparable for me to local festivals that are at least $30 cheaper (with less quantity of acts). Options are nice, but we can only be in 1 place at a time.

This is the case with literally every festival. I think unique bookings are a thing of the past beside Coachella and even that doesn’t scratch my particular itch. Prices keep going up and quality keeps going down. Just kind of what it is.
I’ve been to 11 Bonnaroos and gave up on it with this years lineup. Put my eggs in this basket instead and for me I’m much more excited for what Newport is giving me than what Bonnaroo did. So I made the right move for me

To Larry’s point about more acts having their schedule lineup for Newport than there is spots for Newport, I’m feeling like Lemon Twigs and Jessica Pratt may be aftershows. Flaming lips at the Pickens sounds sick lol.

I think both are too big to be after shows for artists who have never played (Noah Kahan as well). After shows are usually artists from a much lower tier playing Newport for the first time or they are returning artists who don't have a proper festival set during the weekend.
Hozier feels like an after show lock for me. Old Crow would make sense as well. I could also see either a New Basement Tapes, Guthrie tribute, or Sinead O'Connor/Shane MacGowan tribute working as an after show rather than a festival set.

I’m gonna put you down that Fiona Apple road again. Jeff Goldblum is playing in NYC 7/26 and 7/27 with his orchestra. He has a track with Fiona.

They have not finished that lineup yet, so could be more to come for that headline spot. I can’t see him closing it down.
Yeah, it could just be a case of Andre being a unique and cool enough booking that they gave him the top slot, but he’s closing the Quad or whatever. I don’t think there’s another headliner coming (Kamasi can 100% close) but we’re due for like 3 more acts that day and I’m guessing at least one will be top 5/6

My assumption is that Sunday will replace November Ultra with someone else small at a later date, so are we at maybe the headliner for Sunday and 2 more Friday acts? Do we think Friday could get another jazz crossover?
I just realized with 17 announced acts on Sunday, assuming we’re staying at 18 and the headliner is the only left to be announced, this rules out The Lemon Twigs and Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country. I figured both were locks and were two acts I was most excited/hopeful to see.

(Unless one ends up replacing November Ultra)
Room on the bicycle stage if you’re still looking for twigs. They don’t seem to be super popular.

Speaking of easy to get low level acts that I thought were a shoe-In. Can’t believe they slept on Joanna Sternberg and MJ Lenderman this year

They’re not super popular, but they’re still more popular than 1/3 of the acts on Sunday’s lineup.
(By monthly Spotify listeners, which is a flawed metric, more popular than 1/2 of the acts already booked for Sunday.)

wow, Newport Folk missed out on some extremely good, relevant, contemporary acts? that never happens.
