Alright, I'm not positive when I'm going to arrive at 'Roo yet. It'll either be Thursday afternoon or Friday morning. My question is, how quick does the tent only area fill up? Will there still be room if we get there Friday morning?

Good question - I assumed that it would fill up quickly since it's so close and I, personally, would hate to camp right infront of a car. But I've heard from some places that the tent area doesn't fill up at ALL... I dunno though. I'm interested in the answer as well...
As for me, I'm heading down Wednesday night and getting there THursday morning. That way I get a good spot - if I choose to camp infront of my car or in the tent only area.
The tent only area has not filled up the last two years. We camped in it in 04 and my bf put a tent there in 05 for short stops. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Most people like to stay by their cars. But I highly recommend the tent only camping. In 04 we were able to listen to the main stage people from our tent. During the downpour that happened that year on Saturday, we went back to our tent to take a nap. We awoke to the sound of the Dead playing "Tennessee Jed" which was pretty freaking awesome. Plus the short walk to centeroo is great.
Yea, if you look at some of the ariel pics from last year, you can tell Tent Only wasn't packed. I kept walking past it thinking, "those kids are lucky", I was too messed up to put it together that all I needed to do was carrying my tent in there. I plan on hitting up Tent Only this year. Its right next to Centeroo, was way more spacious than where I was; plus it allows for me and my friends to arrive at different times but still establish the same campground.
im considering tent only after hearing all the great benefits....i just don't know if i wanna be away from my car(i wanna bring some things that will need to be locked up)...let alone lug all the coolers and stuff down. anyone know how far away the parking is for tent only?

Depends on where they put your car, from my understanding. My plan is to park in the dayparking lot so that we can leave whenever we want if need be. From my understanding, the dayparking lot is about a 15 to 20 minute walk, so I'm going to have a good time lugging everything to the campsite. XD
I was in Sloan Peterson last year so I had a pretty good view of the tent camping area. It never fills up but as the weekend goes on you see a lot of people using it as a walkthrough and a piss stop. Not that it's really that different from car camping but at least you can lock your junk in your car.
