I haven't heard anybody mention this. What is the drum circle scene. Are there drum circles or any jams at camps? Is there a time limit for camp noise or music? Let me know if I should bring my drums? ???
The Drum circle scene has always been pretty cool previous years but, i dont know how strong it will be this year. I remember the first year I went some guy was just standing under the big centeroo arch playing this dijeradoo(however you spell it). I had never really heard one before in person until that night, it was pretty cool and him playing it kind of set the vibe of bonnaroo for me(if that makes sense).

Drum circles usually spring up spontaneously in different places each year. I've seen small all the way up to 30 person circles with extra instruments thrown in sometimes. To my knowledge there are no official noise or music restrictions, but people tend to get cranky around 4am - seeing as the sun comes up at 7:30 and the tent gets 10 degrees warmer immediately.

No noise restrictions anywhere - which is cool & not cool. Came back to the camp around 6am Sunday morning last year, wanting to pop in some tunes, chill for half and hour, and get some sleep. Instead, "Giant Panda Dub Collective" cranked up on their own soundsystem somewhere near us and started playing LOUD. It was cool - they're an alright group - but I didn't necessarily want to listen to loud dub for 90 minutes right then.

i like the travelling drum circles... acouple of dudes just start walking and playing and soon enough its an on the move jam session.... i love teh no noise restrictions but i do try to be courteous...i do play music but keep it at a reasonable volume....
i saw lots of bands with their own setups last year blasting away... i thought they didnt allow it?.. i like it but wouldnt have wanted it in the morning, they should be more considerate then that....

Dude, those guys play in my area (Rochester) all the time and they get very little respect. I can't imagine lugging that much sound equipment that far to 'Roo without a tour bus. Crazy.
Yeah I'd say people are pretty cool with musical noise any time of day up until about 4 am, then its seems most people at the camp sites tend to crash. In my experience, I'm so exhausted from the sun and various substances all day that I pass out for a few hours regardless of noise anyway

There were some GREAT drrum circles going on at my POD under the art installation. I know that there are several people who are going to hold some drum circles as well as playing other types of music at the POD centers. I'm really excited about having the livliness and music of Centerroo start creeping out into the grounds!!!!!!!
SamHall, you should organize a POD drum circle conert at your POD.
im going to a festival that has "roaming entertainment" in addition to the stage acts. its a local fest called Strange-Creek. anyone who is gonna be near New England in the end of May should check it out. its gonna be like our group's pregame for the roo. come join the party!
