I was thinking it would be helpful to name one or two things that you wish you had done in past roo's. Things you forgot to bring, shouldn't have brought, or just good ideas.
For me, this year my group is intending to bring multiple tarps for extra shade, one to go over the tent and one to go over our canopy thing, maybe even one for the ground. Hopefully that'll cut down a lot of the heat from the sun, in the morning especially.
someone in our group last year brought some coleman camping shower towels...basically a bigass diaper wipe to get yourself clean...they worked amazingly well and really left you feeling refreshed...i have seen tthem at every walmart camping section i have been to and i wouldnt go without them...
i also take those lysol germ killer hand wipes....i wipe off the toilet seats with them and they are good for getting your hands clean before ya eat(also i have never had security look inside of them...hint,hint)
and last but not least my crocs....i bought them last year and they are the perfect roo shoe... they have a strap so they wont get sucked off in the mud and most importantly they dont seem to be uncomfortable when they do get muddy... all my other sandals rub the gritty mud around and it raws up my foot but crocs dont seem to do that to me
A good idea that I read on another board is to bring a large area rug for under your shade tent. I would love to bring a big 8x8 pice of carpet to chill on rather than a tarp or sheet, but, alas, there is not enough room in my car.
Last year during the 11-hour drive home, we made this list of the things we would do differently in 2006:
1. VIP!! 2. More tarps 3. Smaller 5-day cooler 4. Cargo shorts 5. Camel backs (get two, one for each of us, one will hold 2 liters of water and the other 2 liters of a mixed drink) 6. Flowy skirts with pockets 7. Tevas or strap-on sandals 8. Umbrellas 9. Better backpacks 10. Little squirt fans (we had an expensive mister last year, but it never worked) 11. More bungee cords 12. Cute rain boots 13. Extra powerful small flashlight (for the portapotties) 14. Baseball caps
More air mattresses for lounging around, and I second the carpet for under the canopy - I'm gonna try to find a cheap one. Tarp got too full of puddles last year. And don't forget my lantern this time

i didnt take mine off for 4 days (well to change my underwear i did) but they held everything without the worry of something falling out.

Not much I'm going to do different - finally figured most of it out. But I will say this:
1) Freeze a case of water and bring it in a 5-day cooler. Fill the rest of the 5-day up w/ ice, and DO NOT OPEN IT except to re-ice another cooler. You'll still have frozen ice by the end of the weekend.
2) EMERGEN-C
3) Wear real shoes that you can toss if you need to. You need the support & the protection.
4) You will want something to lube up the top portion of your legs, which will rub together w/ salt from your sweat unless you are really skinny (gross, but true). Gold bond, petroleum jelly, whatever, just slap a TON on BEFORE you EVER start walking. You'll thank me later.

my friend has that issue last year. I was stoked i did not, for the first time really, cause i got healthy and lost weight before last summer. . . . .but i gained some back . . . .im still 10 pounds off from last summer

I hear that. I apparently just have thick leg issues - I'm basically thin other than that. Either way, I don't wanna risk it, b/c once the Chafe-a-roo begins, you really can't stop it.
dude, i cant tell you how many Dave shows at hershey park ive enjojoyed having to deal with the inner chafe. Walking around Hershey Park all day, riding water rides and such, then going to the show, and dancing around . . . . wow, major unpleasantness. Thats my main gola for this year, no chafeing!!
This may sound a little vulgar but there seems to be more guys around here, if you have that issue, and your doing fine, leave the moisture that has formed down there alone . . . . . lol . . . . . itll only speed up the process . . . .

It's got to be said, mike. Gross or not, it can really screw your whole time if you're not aware of it going in. The 1st year I went, it didn't even cross my mind, until I was walking bowlegged by Friday afternoon.
yeah, you dont want the only thing your thinking and/or worrying about at bonnaroo being the unpleasentness from chafeing. thatll ruin it. this convo is going to give me the motivation to loose that extra 10-15 gained since last summer. (actually, i gained 20-25 during the winter . . . already lost about 10)
I thought i was the only one who got chafeing! At bonnaroo its really bad though cause its hot and humid and you walk constantly, i too was walking bowlegged by sat.

You can get it at GNC or other vitamin/health food stores. They are little individual packets, kinda look like kool-aid packets, and they are a mix of vitamin c and other vitamins and stuff that is good for your body. They are also good for hangovers. You mix the powder in with water and it seems like after the first swallow you feel better. I think it's like 10$ for a box of the packets.

Gookinade Hydralyte! $13 for enough powder to make 5 gallons. www.gookinade.com I just picked some up today. search and rescue and emergency medical teams use it......its like any other electrolyte replacement drink but better! has actually saved the lives of more than 100 people who needed IV fluids but none were available. I'll have a couple Nalgene's full of this all weekend! Hangover cure too! haha
