Peoples - I need some new shoes. I get DOWN generally (like jumping up and down, etc.), and my back/feet are generally shot by Saturday. I think sneakers are the way to go, b/c of the support, but I still end up sore when wearing only sneakers.
Any tips on some decent sneakers that will support my ankles & back for 5 days while going ape-$hit, AND are not so expensive that I would be pissed about them getting ruined?
I've been wearing Nike Shox for about a year now. They are awesome on my back...By far the best shoe for my back! I had a back fusion about 4 years ago and recommend these 100%
New balances have been keeping my feet comfortable and me from falling in the mud for past threes years of bonnaroo now. Also adding a doctor shoals foot arch support thing helps to.

i tought id be ok with flip flops for the fest, but by the second day my feet were in horrible condition, and i was soooo glad i brought my smartwool socks and Dr Martin's, i looked like a stooge with shorts and combat boots but i could walk all day and not complain

You didn't look like a stooge, at least to me. You looked more like an experienced backpacker or someone who's hiked in the mud before.
I always wear wool-blend socks and leather hiking boots when camping. It's the bare minimum in footwear for me, unless I'm showering. I don't get blisters that way, I never have any problems with the mud, and I'm pretty much immune from my feet getting cut on broken glass or other trash. Win-win in my book!

I wore a pair of Merrils all through Lollapalooza last year and Coachella this year. They are extremley lightweight and are designed specifically to let the air through. After walking 3 miles each direction to and from the venue before and after Coachella every day and many many miles throughout Chicago for about a week and remaining on my feet all day each day, I can say that these shoes were defintately up to the task.

Thanks for reviving this thread, DJ!
I tried the Shox ajay, and had to categorically say no b/c my feet are way too wide for any Nikes, apparently. I got some sweet New Balances for $30 @ Finish Line. They really comfortable, and straight up rubberized on the outside (with some pinholes on top of the toes) for MAXIMUM waterproofing.
The thing about shoes that let air through, DJ, as well as shoes that are made of a lot of cloth, is that if you get stuck in the rain/mud, both your feet AND your shoes are screwed until you can change them. That's why I went for the rubberized outside. NOW I just need some massive arch support inserts (I'm cursed w/ weird feet).

Merrills are damn good shoes... and if you want to invest in a good pair of waterproof breathable shoes that will last years pick up something made with Gore-Tex XCR material and Vibram soles... I got this pair of LL Bean Ridge runners for around $70 i think...
