New type of ice on Ebay. Techni ice. They say its better and safer than dry ice. Its on Ebay auctions and buy it now in different amounts. I ordered mine. I'll let you know if its worth it.
Looks pretty neat. I don't think it's really a replacement for dry ice though, more like a replacement for "blue ice" (freezer packs). You cool it in the freezer (~-20C for most) like blue ice, it seems to be more flexible than blue ice though. Dry ice is down around -80C (~-110F). Definitely let us know how it works though, it'd be nice to have a blue ice replacement that you can mold and wrap around stuff.

if im doing the dry ice layer and the frozen water bottles on top of that, will the dry ice make it so cold that everything else in the cooler will freeze?

It depends on things like how much dry ice vs. amount of other stuff in cooler and quality of cooler. It certainly can happen, last year some of my beer froze. I had the dry ice on top though, which will make things worse (cold air sinks), once I repacked things w/ the dry ice on the bottom it was ok.

What kinds of coolers would you guys reccomend and maybe where to find them. I bought like a 52 can one at target that rolls that is decent but not really too big. I think me and couple of buds are going to throw in on one. Any suggestions? Where? How much dry ice did you guys use? How many frozen water bottles? stuff like that....?
I just bought a Coleman 5-Day 70 on Wal-Mart.com for like $35 (ended up over $50 with shipping and unfortunately it's a web only deal) and I think it'll suit me well. What I usually do is have one cooler for ice only and another that I fill up daily with said ice, beers, water, and whatever else needs to be cold for that day. If you have the room, it's really the best way to go. You then only have to open that ice cooler a couple of times a day and it'll definitely last the whole weekend if you're using a good one.
We had a 5-day cooler last year, didn't use dry ice, and we were set for the whole weekend. The price is right and it works without the hassle of dry ice.
how many coolers does everyone bring, we were thinking two big ones, one for beer, one for water, and then a small one for food. that is between 6 people. is that too much....should we just use one for beverages? just curious.
There are two of us. We bring one big 5 day one and a smaller one. I don't remember how we split them up last year, but I think we will probably try working it the way aquariumdrunk suggested this year.
i recommend bringing as much cooler space as you can fit in your car. you can never have enough cold. we use a cheaper one for getiing in and out of and have 2 more that we try to open once or twice a day to refill the constant use cooler. usually the ice in the 2 that dont get opened all the time lasts the whole trip and we have to put ice in the other one once a day. all i know is that if it will fit you will be happy you have it. nothing like a couple ice cold gatorades after rocking out in the hot ass tennesee sun
