This may be a stupid question, but has anyone ever painted/dyed a EZ Up canopy? I have a white one I brought last year that is over 12 yrs old, & I figured if it was darker it would be better. Any advice?
You could probably dye it but if it's the sun you're worried about just get a 10x10 (or whatever side yours is) reflective silver tarp and drape over the top of it. If it's just the color you don't like then paint something fucking awesome on it!

only problem with the big tents....If u want to have a canopy over it......Gotta make sure it will fit. Had that "problem" when bought new tent.......Luckily one of the canopies were high enuff to put tent under.
from what i've been hearing on these threads the ozark trail (walmart brand) tents are not such good quality, hopefully there isnt too much rain/wind to damage your tent this year. but other than that it looks like a pretty damn legit tent.
p.s. i also have an ozark trail tent, a smaller 5 person one, but i have only used it like 3 times and haven't had any problems, and one of those times there was a thunderstorm.

Ozark Trail tents aren't too bad for family or car camping (intended to be read as: light use). For the price and quality, they are excellent for festival goers. I have had at least two that I can remember, I still have one I use from time to time. The test of time will eventually catch up with these tents (the fabic will become see-through, stitches will come undone, poles are easliy strained). But, for less than $150 for a large tent that will be used a handful of times, its not a bad deal. I would encourage you to seal it through and through before using it though.
This was our set up for last year... only had to house 2 of us so we had plenty of room. Sheets + EZ UP is the ONLY way to go... the first year we used tarps (for the first couple of days) and had zero air flow. Last year it was breeze city.

This was '10, which was #5 for my brother and me. I was 50 at the time, and he was 48. It was also the first year we took my son (17) and his (15) with us. We were in VIP tent camping; first row past VIP RV. Had a decent camp. Two solo tents for the boys on either side of the EZ-Up, one five-man tent my bro and I shared on the backside of the EZ. Nice shade tarps over each tent, and a handy fold-up table out front we used for BBQ, and bar set-up. (The boys were involved in all BBQs, but knew better than to tempt the bar.) The taller, beige tent at the back left was our outdoor shower and "discretionary loo". The kid in the photo is my nephew, sitting proud under a Team USA soccer flag, but thumbing his iPhone to see whether the US/England World Cup match had started yet. He and I started walking in immediately after to watch it on Jumbotron, in that blazing hot field that used to be the Lunar Stage.
This young man may//may not be my nephew's cousin and my ex-wife's child, depending on how he'd prefer to address the photo. Just a few hours after railing for all of Deadmau5 show. Despite an E-Z Up overhead, he wasn't so easy up 'til around mid-afternoon. First 'Roo can do that to ya...
These guys didn't actually camp with us, but they were very cool, and we'd have been honored to make space for them. They taught me that there are great "Bros" in every crowd. Sometimes you just have to keep your eyes peeled for them.
So this year, we're in On-Site RV. It'll be great, because my brother and I are old and decrepit, and because our boys should be able to get better, longer sleep (on account of the whole air conditioning thing). For my own part, though, I'm gonna miss tent camping. I just like feeling "inside the maelstrom" like that.
