So I was doing my daily check out of bonnaroo.com and noticed in the bottom left hand corner this Vegoose thing. Clicked on it and it pulled up Vegoose.com which has a slot machine and email list sign up but zero other info.
I'm guessing this has (obviously) something to do with a connection between Bonnaroo and Las Vegas but I'm dying to know what the deal is.
Anyone have any info?

Well, I just Googled it and this is what I came up with: www.livemusicblog.com/archives/2005/06/vegoose-announcement-000895.php The101Report.com has the scoop; Superfly has announced that they will announce information about Vegoose in approximately one month. This makes me happy. In fact, this makes me very happy.
The rumored musicians that are posted there are almost certainly too good to be true.
It looks like this is definitely a Superfly does Vegas on Halloween type of thing.
Bonnaroo+Las Vegas= boggled mind.
I can't even process adding the Halloween component to the mix.
I mean, I have a hard time thinking of two things that are more extreme representations of the pursuit of a good time via public entertainments. I think I feel hungover already. Am I too old for this? Holy sh!t!!!!!
Following the bouncing links around all of these rumor sites and found this posted on a Dave board:
"Superfly is expected to announce the Vegoose Music Festival with-in the coming weeks, to be held on the surrounding fields of Las Vegas, NV - Oct 28-30 with a final show Oct 31 at the Sam Boyd Silver Bowl. The festival will be similar to the Bonnaroo Music Festival which is being held in Manchester, TN this June.
In addition to the festival performances, which will be over by seven o'clock each of the three days, several of the band's will be performing in groups of two or three at various clubs and arenas during the evenings of the festival. Dave Matthews Band and Trey Anastasio will play the Thomas and Mack Center the first two evening's, while moe., Umphrey's McGee, Phil Lesh and Friends and others will share the stage at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on night's two and three. Pearl Jam will play with The Black Crowes on evening three at the Thomas and Mack Center, while right down the road at the House of Blues, The John Mayer Trio will share their Blues for fans. There will be minimal onsite camping and minimal onsite activities, which makes this festival quite different from the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival.
Confirmed Acts are listed below. Dave Matthews Band, Pearl Jam, moe., The String Cheese Incident, The Black Crowes, Wilco, Ryan Adams, Trey Anastasio, Umphrey's McGee, Widespread Panic, Phil Lesh and Friends, Mike Gordon and Leo Kottke, The John Mayer Trio, Gov't Mule, The Allman Brothers Band, 311, Keller Williams and many more to be announced."
i managed to poke around after i posted last night and found the same info....sounds absolutely CRAZY! looks like the new jobby with 3 weeks of vacation time a year could come in handy ;D
never been to vegas...can only imagine how crazy this could become...we'll all be on a fear & loathing trip...doesn't that sound like fun? ;D
Halloween In Vegoose Updated 01:48 PDT Thu, Jul 21 2005 A large-scale, multi-venue music festival is set to invade Las Vegas October 28-31. The folks who produce the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival are expected to announce details for their new venture, Vegoose, any second now. The vegoose.com web site is live but contains no info other than the date span and an email sign-up at press time. Rumors of the fest, some of them quite detailed, have been swirling on the Internet for months. The grand finale is expected to feature the Dave Matthews Band at Sam Boyd Silver Bowl and the surrounding soccer fields. An unnamed rep at the Thomas and Mack Center confirmed that there is a hold on the stadium for a festival on Halloween, but offered no details. An anonymous source at Las Vegas Events, which promotes entertainment events in the city, said the music festival has been in development for a year and an announcement was expected at any time. The anticipated bands include Wilco, Ryan Adams, Galactic, Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, moe.., The String Cheese Incident, Mike Gordon and Leo Kottke, Gov't Mule, The Allman Brothers Band, 311, Keller Williams, The Black Crowes, Umphrey's McGee, and John Mayer Trio - all of whom have dates available in the Vegoose date span. The festival is expected to follow a jazz fest format with the bands playing various venues, and day shows are a distinct possibility. There are a few concerts already set for Vegas on those dates but not many. Barry Manilow is at the Hilton and Jimmy Buffett plays the MGM Grand Garden. That leaves plenty of venues - like The Joint, House of Blues, The Beach, The Palms, The Aladdin, and Mandalay Bay Events Center, as well as the Thomas & Mack Center - possibly open to host Vegoose acts. There will be minimal onsite camping and activities, but who wants to camp in Sin City when you can partake of buffets and air conditioning?
Dave Matthews & Friends Jack Johnson Widespread Panic Phil Lesh & Friends w/ special guest Ryan Adams The Meters (Art Neville, Zigaboo Modeliste, George Porter, Jr., Leo Nocentelli) Trey Anastasio The Flaming Lips The String Cheese Incident Primus Ween The Shins moe. Spo*n Gov't Mule Digable Planets North Mississippi Allstars Michael Franti & Spearhead The Decemberists Atmosphere Blackalicious The Magic Numbers Lyrics Born
Vegas+Festival=More money than I can afford.....The line-up is pretty good. Glad to see bands like The Decemberists, Spo*n and The Shins finally get a billing with Superfly. Ryan Adams w/ Phil Lesh and Friends??? That should be interesting.
P.S. Where the fu(k is everyone? The board must be on hiatus.
When I looked at this list it reminded me of when I saw the first artist list for Bonnaroo '02. I looked at the list and a little voice inside says "You can't not go to this!"
I really wasn't planning on doing the Vegoose thing and I am still not sure if I will be able to secure the necessary funds and companions, but man that list just reads like a dream to me.
You could look through all of the threads I've posted in the last year and a half here and I've said a million times "Get Blackalicious. Get Lyrics Born."
The fact that they are both there, along with Digable Planets, and all on top of a kick a$$ Bonnaroo-type lineup....I'm really going to have to consider this.
