Suggest a band that is going to be at B'roo that probably not a lot of people have heard before. Just name the band and give a little explanation about the band. I know a lot of times I've heard bands that I had never heard of when they were at 'roo and wish that I had seen them while I was there.
Suggestion: Tea Leaf Green
These guys seem to be getting better every show they play. They have extremely good song writing talent and their guitar player is very good. They defenitely have better vocals than the typical jamband. I bet a lot of people here would like them. Nugs.net has a show of theirs available and archive.org has a ton of their shows.
I'm not going, but if I were, I'd go see these guys.
John Butler Trio
I just saw one of thier concerts on CN8(east coast cable channel) and it was mighty fine. They're hard to describe. I'd say they've got a very rootsy acoustic jazzy sort of thing going. John Butler is the guitarist, and he uses acoustic guitars but also uses a bunch of effects pedals and churns out some interesting sounds. The one song, he made it sound like a sitar. They're gonna be in Cali. next week whilst I'm there. I'm strongly considering going. He'll fit in great at the Roo.
A singer/songwriter who's about as versatile as you'll find these days. He has a penchant for "old timey" music and that AM radio sound. The full lengths tend to skip around stylistically. There's minimalist jazz that compliments his, eeriely melodic, husky voice (which can jump to falsetto), pure folk (where he's among the best songwriters out there), and more frantic straight forward rock. I've yet to dig deep into his early stuff, but can say without hesitation that Matt Ward has created two near masterpieces with the most recent LP's -- Transfiguration of Vincent and the stunning Transistor Radio. Both eccentric enough to hold interest, but neither losing their ability to keep cohesion and flow in the crosshairs. I'm telling you kids, there are ghosts in his music. Last year he did a tour with Jim James of My Morning Jacket and Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes, where they showed off their solo skills, collaborated, and would often cover each others' songs. I regret not getting out for it!
I definitely plan on checking out John Butler Trio. I didn't make it to the very first B'roo but I have the cd's they released from it and the John Butler song was one of my favorites. While I've only heard that song I would have to say that Danbird gave the perfect description of their sound. Couldn't have described it better.

Kings of Convenience
2 gentlemen from Iceland who play aucostic guitar. On the albums they have some soft drum and other instruments but live its only the two of them and it is the best, most melodic, beutiful sound I have ever heard, so gentle and relax, I almost wanted to cry it sounded so good when I saw them play. This would make a great sunday morning show in a small tent.
