I have recently been checking out some live radiohead video clips and let me say this. Now not only do i not mind if they headline, i dont think there is anyone else i would want to headline over them. Really good stuff live, and if people think theyr just indie/alt rock well they're mistaken. Each album is basically a different type of music, my favorite being Kid A. If they played that whole album itd make for one trippy show.
6 years ago, i was just a so-so radiohead fan. i'd heard their stuff, i had their albums, whatever. i really enjoyed putting their stuff on and chilling with my friends, getting high more than likely. they were coming to the area, so i decided to check them out... just fot shits and giggles, really.
oh my god. was i impressed or what?!?!?!
in a matter of mere HOURS, my mentality concerning that band went from "who cares" to "holy fucking shit" --- i was hooked. i was officially a radiohead fan. two years later, i had the chance to see them again, this time NOT sober (at ALL), and the experiences was one for the books. both of those shows proved to me that not only was radiohead NOT your typical one trick pony, but an incredibly talented and diverse band who could move with any crowd. never has the band failed me live.
this is why, even though i can see how some people who have never seen the live would think radiohead at bonnaroo sounds weird, i feel there is no better band to headline a festival of this calibre. the power that surrounds radiohead's music is sure to intensify the bonnaroo vibe we all already know and love.
