It has been Warren. Last year it was Warren, Robert Randolph, and Herbie Hanc ock. With no Warren, no Herbie, and Randolph and Trey leaving to play other venues, who will be our Jack of all bands this year????
Les Claypool, already with two spots, is my only quess.

I'm really hoping its buddy guy. THIS GUY IS INCREDIBLE. Saw him at the fillmore a couple of months ago and can honestly say I don't think I'll ever see a better Blues performer. He is all over the place, if I didn't know better I would have sworn he was mid 30's
I think it could be a Marsalis brother, Wynton or Branford. "IF" they officially add an artist in residence it would have to be someone who hasn't been added yet and could easily and tastily sit in with a number of bands already playing, as well as leading the Superjam.
I don't really understand the artist-in-residence thing last year. IT didn't make sense. First of all, It was the first year they did it. Then, the artist, Herbie, played a show in MEMPHIS on that saturday with the Headhunters. So when all was said and done, HIs band played Friday, and he played the superjam on sunday and sat in for 2 songs with Panic. Warren has played so much more than that at every Bonnaroo, while staying on-site all weekend, calling Herbie the "artist-in-residence" is just strange to me.
Herbie was badass though last year. That superjam was NASTY.
ya i forgot it was col. claypool i was thinking c2b3 had bruce in it but apparently not, so i guess theres not gonna be a col claypools fancy oyster band cuz since trey wont be there (stew might be) it would just be his fancy band plus les's col. hat. or at least col bruce hasnt played with'em YET
I'm upset Randolph has to leave, but it does open up for a number of awesome guests. Artist in Residence will likely be either Costello, Buddy Guy, or John Popper by my estimations. Of course, this assumes that it isn't Les, who it probably will be (funny, as I typed this post "The Grand Pecking Order" came on, strange considering I have somewhere around 5,000 songs and it was on shuffle . . .).

Randolph has to leave? Huh?
Anyway, I think John Scofield is going to be making the rounds, playing with Phil Lesh, maybe MMW, maybe Soulive and really anyone - I mean, he's Sco.
Artist in residence for those that don't know, is a concept that Roo came up with last year. Basically it's a special gues that will play multiple shows and sit in with other artists throughout the weekend. Last year the official first artist in residence was Herbie Hanc0ck. It was a little dissapointing since, as you can read above, he didn't really sit in all that much. I mean he didn't even play with Trey.
I think all roo veterans can agree that the unofficial first artist in residence was Warren Haynes. He played more shows even last year that Herbie did.
last year it seemed like xavier rudd was in residence, which was fine with me. id love to see him added anyway possible. he got on with ozomatli i believe?, jack johnson, keller williams, his own slot i forget whos else...
Xavier did do some pretty awesome sets that were not his own. I have been watching his website closely hoping he might add something. We do have hope his Canadian tour ends on June 3.
Even if there's no official artist in residence, there will be one musician who plays everywhere. I mean, last year Warren, Robert Randolph, Bob Wier all had their own sets on the main stage, and then sat in again with another band on the main stage. And Herbie, the official artist in residence, only performed on the main stage for 2 or 3 songs.
The ubigiutous compiliations are the sickest part of bonnaro.
Two names I haven't seen thrown out: Willie Nelson (who was rumored early on) and B.B. King (who recently announced he was hanging it up after his tour). FYI, B.B.'s tour ends in Padukah, KY on the 9th of June at the Four Rivers Center.
Personally, I could see either guy fitting the artist in residence bill as they've both been known to sit in on other group's sets...
