Sadly, I didn't make it to any of the late night shows. After the all day Langerado affair I was lucky to make back to the hotel. Disco was sick, so was the Duo's show on Fri.
Al in all I really enjoyed that festival. One of the highlights was meeting Buckethead on Fri. The setup was kind lame, especially the no re-entry policy.
Of the 8 Umphrey's shows I've been to I can easily say that last year's Roo show is my least favorite. It was a straight forward festival friendly set given this was their first year on a stage instead of a tent. Every song was pretty basic and not at all jammed out. Also not having much play time really hurt the show. While I didn't really like the set list the playing was super tight as usual. A festival set can never live up to a nice 2 set show though. Unless it's a marathon latenight set like in '04.
The thing that still amazes me about the Umphrey's '04 show is that it was such an amazing show when they didn't even play any of their "heavy hitters" except for N2F. Most highly acclaimed Umphrey's shows are full of their classic, huge songs. This bonnaroo show still has a great set list but the playing was just incredible. Had I missed the show and then saw the set list I would have been like "meh, looks pretty good". I guess one could argue that Bridgeless is a monster song but at that time in history it was still pretty new and not as huge as it is these days.

I myself like jams that get so out there that i pretty much forget what song im listening to alltogether untill they bring it back around and everyone in the crowd seems to kind of wake up again at that one moment... Thats what its about for me...
dude that is the best way i have ever heard it phrased. there is nothing better then that. just being into the jam and then bam! your back into the song and your like "oh ya they were playing that song" and the crowd snapping back. that is my favorite thing to experience at a show. john butler put on one of the greatest shows i have ever seen a couple weeks ago and that must have happened 6 or 7 times. incredible show. john butler gives me that effect everytime i hear oceans. even if it is in my car on cd

ya the more i listen the more i feel like i do about radiohead. love the music. not that into the vocals. i will still be checking bp out if nothingelse too big is playing the same time. by the way here is a link to a show they did recently in which they covered national anthem. i wish that radiohead jammed songs like that. ive only heard a little bit of live radiohead but ive never heard them extend a song out like that. anyways you can stream it or download song by song.
