I'm still undecided on going. I'll put it this way... Right now I live in North Carolina and Manchester is a relatively short 8-hour drive away. With my current work situation, I know that I can get the time off with no problem at all. Chances are very good, however, that I will have moved on to another job on the other side of the country by the time Bonnaroo rolls around. I may still be in NC by then, but I doubt it. As the lineup stands right now, I won't be flying across the country for it.
My "favorites" list on jambase.com has 27 artists in it. Last year 17 of them played Bonnaroo. This year there are 7 of them.
While I'm all about Roo being diverse, and am happy that many fans are getting their key choices this year, i.e. Radiohead, Petty, and others, it just isn't my cup of tea.
Roo is a great party with lots of great people, but what has reeled me there the past 4 consecutive years is the music. I can't see driving 12 hours to get there (and back!), and paying out lots of ca$h to see a lineup that doesn't fit my overall likes. Don't go calling me "close-minded", it's just that I know what I like and don't like!
This may just be the perfect year for me to check out the Wanee festival and GOTV again.
