Maybe there will be a last minute announcement that 'Roo will, in fact, be in St. Louis. In which case I have a much shorter drive, and that would be awesome
I'm sure they feel they're up to it but I'm also sure from being an avid traveller that all that jet lag will definitely inhibit them from playing to their potential.
yeah, and massive exploding diarreah would inhibit them from playing to their potential as well.
my point is that i dont think they would have much of a problem. they travel for a living. i think they can handle it. just watch the 03 Roo DVD Extras disc. one band (bisco maybe) talks about how they just get into the zone when theyre playing and pulling an allnighter is something that they dont think about until it has already happened.
they aint no nancy-boys. so, you will enjoy it. have no fear, my fellow Rooer. all will be well.

True dat. these Nawlins musicians are no strangers to late nights and multiple gigs. It's common for some of these guys to play like four gigs a day during Jazzfest, where they'll play a set at the fairgrounds in the day, sit in with with another band a few hours later, have their own gig at midnight, then head over to another club to jam with yet another band...
...on the other hand...
...The other bass player for Dumpstaphunk is Nick Daniels. Sometimes Dumpstaphunk even has two bass players at the same time, Nick and Tony. It's possible that Dumpstaphunk at Bonnaroo would have Nick Daniels on bass and some other sick ass New Orleans drummer on the kit. Who played drums at Dr. John's Jazzfest gig this year? Maybe he will be the drummer. After all, the show is billed as Dr. John/Rebirth/Dumpstaphunk. That could mean it could be any combination of the players from Dr. John's band, Dumpstaphunk and Rebirth Brass Band.

Its funny how defensive people get about trey, myself included. I love Trey as much as anybody, but his mad machine gun shredding skills are my least favorite of his bag of tricks. His compositional skills, and his minimalist/group sound a la 98 phish is what does it for me. You could say he could compose circles around these other guys. He could easily do the hendrix thing, but i dont really need to see that. Id much rather see Trey close it out with Phil on sunday to be honest. Let Ben or buddy or sco or frisell do the gypsies.

have any of you seen buddy guy? I saw him at acl last year, and he tore shit up, he would be awesome to see latenight. imo he still is one of the best guitar players alive, and can shred like no ones business, now to the whole trey thing.....given his track record I really doubt he will be there for the superjam, it would be nice, but not likely. besideds buddy guy kicks ass, but he might be asleep, he is getting pretty old. thats my opinion, i hope i did not offend anyone. peace
all of this talk is crazy. super jam has always been a pool mof musicians that are at roo. if the duo or ben harper or anythoer person/group was coming to roo they would have their own set. it wouldnt be called superjam. i think trey is a defineite possibiulity. he proabably will fly back on sat. other then that i think your dreaming. id like to see trey and mike have everyone else at roo come up and jam with them. as far as being tired. its bonnaroo!!!! these guys are used to this life and it dosent matter how tired you are the overal energy will get ya going. any roo veterans should know that. if i can drive 14 hours and party hard for 4 days with no sleep then i thin they can handle an hour flight.
?uestlove showed up last year and the Roots were not at the Roo, so it is not unprecedented. Plus the 4 hour time slot late night, brings a whole new aspect...
thats true. i definetly thin they are doing something bigger the in the past. im probably just nay saying because i cant imagine what id do in a conflict with dr john. man i hate tough decisions..

Yeah I hear ya, part of me hopes that it is absolutely incredible, but I would have a hard time leaving Dr. John and all that funk..
People in the jam scene are obsessed with trey, but i gaurentee he would admit that he would bow down to scofield, frisell, and buddy guy.
When it comes to best imitating hendrix, buddy guy takes the cake, not only would he sound the best vocally, but he shreds the best, slides the best, and just is the best.
You could make an agrument for him being one the top 3 greatest living guiter player, with that being said, with his age, i dont see him participating, espechially since he will be playing earlier in the day.

just signed up the other day for the messageboard, my name is jon, ive been wandering around the board for about 4 or so months now, very impressed with everything, this is going to be my third roo this year and im stoked as ever, lots of good times, and looking to be as good if not better times this year,
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.

hehe im with foudray, although i have heard that same rumor from a couple of friends, and they said the same thing, and none of them even know what superjam is cause theyve never been at bonnaroo, which leads me to ask them where they got the info from

I've read (somewhere, possibly Listserv) that the Duo's management confirmed that they will definitely NOT be @ roo. boo hoo.
BUT you know that the 'roo is planning a major league surprise to do Superjam late night, late night saturday, 4 hour late night saturday, and 4 hour late night saturday vs. Dr. John's 30-year-in-the-making resurrection of The Night Tripper.

Yeah this super long late night superjam is definately out of the ordinary... Superjam is usually a sunday afternoon slot thats easily overlooked, but where its sitting this year one has to be curious about whats planned...
hot damn, saturday night is gonna kick some serious ass
I think we're all in for something big as far as the superjam goes... I mean, come on, they wouldn't stick it in that timeslot if they didn't have something special planned for it.
My plan for saturday is to wander around and take in everything.. I will end up seeing a good bit of The Night Tripper, but I can't pass up that late night Superjam...
