Now of course I'll be rocking at the front for the bands I really like but for the ones I'm just a casual fan of I might like to sit down, rest the feet. Is it possible to sit down without getting trampled or being unable to hear the music?

sure, you have to go back far enough where you are visible to others and maybe not be able to hear the music as well but you will be comfy. But hey, a bit of comfor is worth it. You are at BONNAROO, still seeing live music. Whenever you sit down I think reality sets in and then you want to stand back up.
the tents are a little harder to sit and still get good sound.. the mainstage you can sit as far back as youwant ad still catch the show the way it was meant to be.
prime sitting spots are behind the speakers in the field at the mainstage, and at the side stage, under the second big tree at the back of the field near the bobble heads .
at the tents, during the day you can usually get a pretty good sitting view along the sides maybe 50-100 feet away from the tent. During Late NIght, usually not too many people sit so it's hard to get a good view sitting down. And those late night shows are tent shows. Only people sitting late night are too spun to focus on the music anyway.
at the main stage i like to chill about halfway back. you can take in the whole stage and all of the lights. the sound is perfect. its not so hard to go to the bathroom and find the rest of your group again in the dark, and there is room to chill.
also i have enjoyed plenty of great music while too messed up/ exhausted to stand. if your messed up enough it seems like sittng and standing are 2 seperate worlds.
It's tough to sit at the shows in the tents, especially during the mid-afternoon shows that a really packed.
When the headliners are playing the main stage, then you can usually sit pretty comfortably in the tents.
You can always sit at the main stage as the field that it is in is HUGE!!
You will have to go at least half to 3/4 the way back where everyone isn't standing. There will be tons of folks sitting during the big shows at the main stage!
During last year's first Panic show, we sat at the tables in the Jack tent and could see the stage, hear the music and watch all of the trippers walk by. Good times.
