Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Honestly, have any of you left Bonnaroo and said that it was musically insufficient? 4 years in the book and I have yet to say this. I admit, I have no idea who half of these bands are, and that is part of the reason it's so exciting. I would prefer Bonnaroo to venture outside the box and push me into trying new music. I want to hear music I might not have discovered, or thought to listen to. Every year I leave with a new band (usually multiple bands) that I was clueless about, but now love. I would much rather them push the envelope some, then have Panic (whom I love) headline every year. At some point, you have to say, "this is starting to be the same thing every year," and give it a little shake up. Push the audience. The spirit of Bonnaroo reflects the spirit of the music scene it represents, which is the spirit of risk-taking, pushing the envelope, and embracing change musically. I think once you realize that, a lineup like this is the inevitable progression Bonnaroo had to move towards to stay fresh.
But that being said, I think the majority of subsequent additions will be fairly jam-friendly. One thing about the subsequent additions is the fact that when they are isolated in their own announcement with 2 or 3 other artists, it helps push people into deciding they should go, by saying, "well I can't miss them, so i'm in"

Luckily, I work in a record store and recognize alot of the bands that I wouldn't normally have heard of. There's alot of weird stuff that I can't wait to check out and bands that won't travel to Florida.
Devandra Banhart, for instance, just put out an amazing album of folk/rock that is as much Woody Guthrie as it is T-Rex or Sesame Street.
For the folks who doubt the jam power of the non-jam bands, I have three words for you: My Morning Jacket.
They are the bearers of the Bonno-flame, not Phish or the Dead.
Personally, I can't wait to see My Morning Jacket again. They easily were one of my top 3 bands from last year, and probably my new favorite band I've discovered in the last year.
not quite perfect. Need some Trey, some Claypool, Some Ween, Some Amon Tobin, Some David Byrne...
mix the old with the new. Nothing wrong with some familiar faces mixed in with some mind-blowing new music.
We went home on Sunday morning in '04 (we were both pretty waterlogged, and my boyfriend ended up with a giant coldsore because of the sun), so I missed David Byrne when he was there. That remains my great big bonnaroo regret.

Just opened up my copy of Z as I thought its about time I listen to these guys. Just happen to be reading this thread. I think I will catch this MMJ set this year.
this will be my first bonnaroo. i considered it last year, but this year it only took one word to get me to commit: radiohead. not being a jam-band fan, this lineup looks awesome. put dylan on there and i'll be the happiest boy in happyland.
Umphrey's is great. Could care less about the Disco Biscuits. Oh well, maybe they will get together and rock a Conspirator or Brain Damaged Eggmen set.
Two additions isn't much but they are quality. Whatever is announced is cool with me. I've decided not to go anyway. I walked out of last year completely satisfied but telling myself that could be my last year. Driving so far from NY and missing out on a lot of stuff I was excited to see because of set times and pure exhaustion started to take it's toll. It's probably not forever but I really want to try out a smaller fest. I may end up bored as shit cuz 'Roo has so much to offer as far as side activities, but I've always wished I had more time to spend at camp cooking up good food and hanging out with neighbors. Plus someof the other fests offer much more scenic campgrounds where campfires are welcome. Not important to some but it appeals to me at this point.

I usually attend a festival exactly as you described once a year, and although its very different from bonnaroo, its not boring at all. Its nice to be able to relax at your camp for a while and only have to worry about one stage.
