We were awoken on Saturday morning by a loud 7am soundcheck of some sweet beats. We weren't able to discern who it was or what song. Later Beck soundchecked (which was more enjoyable lazying around our site in shooter mcgavin than in the venue at his set).
Does anyone know who was first to soundcheck Sat? My final guess was Radiohead with the drums only portion of 15 step. Later I thought it was part of Cyprus Hill's set. Any help appreciated.
i'm almost 100% positive that the very early morning soundcheck stuff was strictly music being played over the PA. I was in VIP and the only "band" that seemed to do a live soundcheck on the mainstage was BECK. everything else was pre-recorded. I know they played some Tom Petty stuff on Both Friday and Sunday, which was clearly pre-recorded
my friends mentioned how annoying it was. they said the worst part of it was that our neighbors kept screaming over and over about how retarded they thought it was. they were the most annoying neighbors i have ever had at roo. luckily i wasnt at camp much. and luckily i never made it home after umph/bisco. we slept under a tree by the cinema tent so i wasnt there to hear them being whiney bitches for the 1000th time about the soundcheck
Please help me out with this one: At about 7 or 8 AM Saturday morning someone played a track through the main stage (“What Stage”) PA. Anyone who was near the stage (e.g. VIP campers) and wasn’t under anesthesia would have heard it. It was a minute of two of this cool grove, mostly a solid bass and drum track, with a haunting synth pad, and some vocal thing I can’t quite recall. I think it was played twice. Does anyone know whose music it is? It sounded great waking me up from my Umphrey’s-Bisco recovery nap. Thanks in advance!
i actually e-mailed the folks at bonnaroo to try find out what it was. i remember some of the lyrics, but it never played all the way through, just stopped and started 5 or 6 times. and it was one of the best party songs i've ever heard.

What lyrics do you recall? We may be able to google our way through this.
My suspicion is that one of the sound company techs played the track because she could. It may or may not have had anything to do with a `Roo act. But it was damn good groove!
i've googled the hell out of it. nothing yet. i remember it began with the cool riff described, then the vocals: "this is my *prayer." the * i remember as "morning." then, "save me, save me, save me from this *" and i think the * was "life."
but then it was 6:50 in the morning, so there may be some confusion there.
i thought that i heard it was a neville bros soundcheck sat morning. i didnt hear it as i was passed out in centeroo from the night before. but it would make sense as they played first.
