Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Pearl Jam would be a big addition, but it would be a step down from Radiohead. The same goes for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but both could be reasonable additions.
What the problem is for the organizers now is that this year they booked an act that is hard to live up to, because Radiohead is a HUGE show and it also pushed the diversity barriers further for Roo because it's an act that at one time wouldn't have been thought to fit into the jammy fest.
This kind of pushes them into a corner where they have to secure another huge name and another one-off for next year to keep the enormity of Roo there. There will always be repeat headliners (I think) and the Dead presence, but now each year they'll surely bring someone else big and new into the fest.
The Who would be great in that Tom Petty spot, but people will always be asking if it can really be the Who without Entwistle (sp) and Moon, so that could get a lot of mixed vibes.
If they really wanted to push their boundaries they could go after the Smashing Pumpkins, though I'm not sure how they'd fit in with the crowd, I'd definitely prefer them to Tool.
A big reunion isn't impossible for the jamband area either, but something like a reunited Phish would be all the festival would need to show how good they are at getting great performers, but the festival would be too big if it was a one-off Phish show, they would have to reunite for an album or a tour, because not even a random airpoint in Maine can keep 70,000 Phish fans away.
So your headliners could come from anywhere really, it would be interesting if they added a slight country vibe, Willie would be cool but he's playing at ACL so it wouldn't be a new thing.
Anyways, the list is huge and there are a dozen acts I'm sure that I'm forgetting, but the headliners could include pretty much anyone, The Who, Dave Matthews, Dylan, Dead, Panic, RHCP, Pearl Jam, or even some more long shot reunions, a la Phish or Smashing Pumpkins. We'll see.

Having never seen Phish, I'd love the opportunity, but like you said, it could get ugly. If people thought there were a lot of folks there just to see Radiohead, well I got news for you, Phish would undoubtedly increase that number in a big way.

I think if there were a Phish reunion at Bonnaroo, they would have to announce the headliners in installments. They would have to announce Phish as the final headliner a month or so after the tickets go onsale, this way they could give the people who are there for other bands and not just Phish a chance to get tickets. Same if there was a Pink Floyd
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.
i think the problem with Phish would be that those guy's would probably be able to make their own festival of only the reunion and i think Roo know's better. in addition what would folks think of a gorillaz latenight? i think that would get the bodies movin

Late night Gorillaz would be amazing And yeah I agree about Phish - not that I wouldn't love to see them again, but Bonnaroo wouldn't be the best idea for that.
Gorillaz aren't a real band. They're a cartoon band and a side project for its members. So yeah...just fyi, they don't really exist in the traditional 'might-be-available-to-play-a-gig' sense.
The Gorillaz aren't "real" obviously, but they're definitely available to play gigs -- it's not often, but there have been shows with virtually all of the contributors behind the scenes making it happen. I read reviews from their Chicago show during their tour a few years back and the real folks were behind massive screens that the cartoon members were being projected, or whatever, on.

i've seen Tool a couple of times... i like their music but they didn't impress me in concert. they had no energy. Maynard acted like he was singing to himself..... so, i don't think Tool would work at Roo.
i would like to see some metal at Roo tho.... (System of a Down is incredible)
however, my predictions for headliners in '07 will be more realistic than wishful thinking:
Friday - Clapton Saturday - Red Hot Chili Peppers Sunday - DMB
some "good fit" artists that should be considered: Pink Floyd's Waters or Gilmour, Portishead, Gorillaz, Southern Culture on the Skids, Sting, Lyle Lovett, Santana, the Cure

I was a "parrothead" for a couple of years. Having been there and done that, I can safely say that this could have the potential of of being the worst addition ever...in the history of the festival. Generally speaking, the crowd has little to no interest in the music and is only there for the "party." Not that there's anything wrong with that -- there's a time and a place -- just please, not at Roo.

I pretty much thought the same thing at the Jimmy Buffett suggestion. I love most types of music but I don't see that being a good addition to roo.
Now System of a Down would make me a really happy person

Any headliners besides the same old recycled jam band stuff. I have always wanted to come to Bonnaroo but the Headliner usually suck and they play for 4 hours and there are no other bands to watch. Radiohead was a good start though but I have seen them a bunch of times. How bout Bjork. A Chemical Brothers set would be cool. Pearl Jam would be cool but I doubt Bonnaroo can book them. I bet PJ plays Coachella this year if Goldenvoice wants them. Gorillaz would be a great headliner but they are not that big a draw. I saw them at the Hollywood Palladium their 1st tour.

i think pearl jam will be one of the headliners for sure, the dead probobly too, but i'm having trouble figuring out the last one.....i'm guessing a classic rock group, cuz thats been the formula kinda
