Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I'd *really* like to see John Fogerty (of Creedence Clearwater Revival). I think it would be an excellent fit for the community and what not.
Some other bands i'd love to see but I'm sure they're far less likely: Afrika Bambaataa, Bjork, a Pink Floyd reunion, Martin Gore, cEvin Key, Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave, Tom Waits, Meat Beat Manifesto.
Ok after reading this entire thread for the 5000 time I have a few opinions.
1. I'm not saying that tool does or doesn't have the fanbase. They obviously sell out a lot of shows, so they do have fans. But when you've been to their local shows, they come around to your home town every year, and 90% of their fans have never been to Bonnaroo then you have to wonder if they would travel 2000 miles just to see tool. That brings up....
2. In order to get the tool fanbase to travel 2000 miles, they would have to get more than one act that fits the same style as tool. Tool fans would not pay $200 dollars a ticket to see only tool. I know alot of tool fans. Obviously if you are a tool fan on this website you have an interest in different styles of music, but most tool fans are metal heads. They aren't looking forward to seeing tool then running to see a special late night polyphonic spree set.
3. My picks are simple keep it exactly the same as it has been. I would not be upset with two nights of widespread and one night of the dead, or trey, dave, and the dead. Nobody seems to have a problem with it getting away from the Jam scene, but I do. I love the diverse music at bonnaroo, but I wish they would keep it at the very least 60% Jam and 40% other. Sorry to say though that 40% other should not be metal. I think the "hippie"/Peaceful vibe would be gone if heavier music were added to the lineup. I'm not saying that all people who listen to metal are violent or anything, but that style of music is centered around agression. If bonnaroo were to go that way, I'd be going to Wakarusa!
4. I know some people are going to say there has already been heavier music at the roo (refering to mars volta or primus). It is not the same, especially with primus. They are not in the headline position and they are much closer to Jambands than most metal/heavy bands. Also, their fanbases did not follow them to the roo. Sure they had a whole lot of people there to see them, but I don't think anyone would have come just for those two shows. They maybe the deciding factor that pushed someone over the edge, but they didn't pay all that money for two shows.

Prior to this years shows Tool hadn't played since 02.

if the dead don't close next years roo i'll be surprised i really want the sat. headliner to be roger waters and i want him to play dark side of the moon
Similar...except Petty has remained WAY more popular over the years, and continues to put out new records and fill arenas. Put it this way: last time Petty was around here, he sold out our local amphitheatre. The last time Steve Miller was here, he played the fair.
I love the old Steve Miller band, but they're a bit "has-been" to be headlining one of the world's biggest festivals.
Well said!
Like many, their "Greatest Hits 74-78" was one of those albums that acted as a soundtrack to countless high school parties and holds a nostalgic spot in my heart. But, other than the nine or ten timeless tunes on that collection, I'm kind of at a loss for anything else worthwhile from the group. It's not like he's not a classic, because there certainly aren't many other artists in the history of rock who have hammered the radio like he has. As for staying power though, ehhhhhh, he had his moment. I'd totally check him out in a tent or something -- just not on the main stage.
Linkin Park playing with Jay-Z.. that would be cool, but out of place.. Also, i'd love to see Steve Miller Band, or Paul Simon.. But, i'd kill to see Van Moorison!
what i think though for next year
OAR / DMB type band night one WSP night two The Dead night three

Hey, long time listener, first time caller.
I've read through some of the reasoning why Phish wouldn't make a good headliner, one of the main reasons being that they don't need Bonnaroo since they can put on their own festivals. That's true, but do their festivals offer the band the same opportunities? Obviously a big factor that has Trey (and the others, to a lesser extent) coming back almost every year is the other music there. Not just to be there and experience it with the fans, but all these fellow musicians with whom they can collaborate and create something new and unique to the moment. With 80 or so other, like-minded artists on a bill with them, one can only imagine what Phish might do, creatively speaking. It's also worth noting, for the record, that on average Bonnaroo festivals have still been slightly bigger and Phish fests. Perhaps that doesn't mean much, but it's worth putting out there.
It's gonna be Pearl Jam, Tool, and Widespread Panic (or at least 2 of those for sure). With CSNY, Bruce Hornsby, Carlos Santana, and QOTSA in support. And no, I'm not just grabbing off those off of wikipedia...in fact, I'll admit right now that last year, I WAS the one who initially posted the Tom Petty, Radiohead, and Beck rumors first on wiki last year....so these bands are coming from some pretty confident predictions (or whatever you wanna call em), in fact, who do you think started the rumors this year?
and I know this is a little off topic, but I think it's about time Bonnaroo settles on a dance/DJ tent (even if its just at night).....but 5-6 hours of dance music and DJs (and maybe one bigger electronic band) would do the festival some good and add even more diversity.
