I read somewhere else that they showed a couple of World Cup games 4 yrs ago at Bonnaroo. This year the World Cup will be going on the same time as Bonnaroo again. Do you think they will show the games in the cinema tent again? The games would be around midday our time.
The USA is playing Italy on the 17th, and I really want to see that game. It might be somewhat of a slow match, but is will be a good gauge of how far the USA can go.

They showed the U.S. vs. Germany game in the cinema tent when I was there... really early in the morning at 5 a.m... I would imagine they will show any U.S. games at the cinema tent again and maybe all the games on some television set somewhere
i know they showed the nba finals... i skipped it even though my pistons were in it... i heard it was an excellent high energy way to watch the game though... i just couldnt pull myself away from the music... oh and i just read the bonnaroo favorite moments thread and someone in there said their fav moment was watchin world cup with a couple hundered fans at 5 am.. so i think your in luck... and ya its airconditioned.. but it get real cold in there at night.... i guess a coiuple hundered people would warm it up quickly

The cinema tent is actually not air conditioned. I think it may have been in 2002 (when it was closed in and smaller), but since then it has been a larger, open-walled tent. Still my favorite place for a nap though, I guess because its relatively quiet and low traffic, and who doesn't like to doze off to some cartoons? I know the Comedy tent has AC and I think the music downloading tent might too, although I've never been in either.

They MUST show the World Cup. ESPECIALLY the American game(s).
I checked the WC web page and it lists the USA v Italy game at 21:00. If that's German time and they are 5-6 hours ahead of us, the game will be at 3pm or 4pm. I don't know who will be on the main stage at that time, but it would be cool if they put the game on the screens during the performance.
hey ka mai... i think maybe your mistaken... or we are just refering to different tents... but i sat in what i thought was the cinema tent and watched an episode of chappelles in the airconditioning... in both 04 and o5 i went there and it was airconditioned always.. quite well also.. even in the heat of the day with alot of people in there it was nice and cool... maybe they have 2... but i checked the map of 05 and i was at what is labled as the cinema tent... also on the back of the map it makes mention of the cinema tent and its airconditoned status (when were ya there? maybe the air quit workin and they took down the walls or somtehting)and as for the mainstage screen.. there will not be any music there that late(barring some type of delay such as the dead with the rain delay in 04).... and they dont even let ya chill there after the headliner ends...we chilled for a while after dave smokin and and tryin to shrug off the shroooms enough to move and they made us leave so they could close down and clean up the main stage area....also they have never shown anything except the act that is actually on the main stage(at tleast ive never seen anything but the act that was on stage) on those screeens... although i think they should have a closed circut tv system so you can watch an act at one of the tents while waiting at the main stage for an act to come out
Sorry to continue an off-topic aspect of discussion, but I'm going to have to back up ka mai on the air conditioning thing, at least as regarding '04 anyway. I didn't actually go in the cinema tent last year, but I did go several times in '04 and it was not air conditioned. (Also, while the Bonnaroo archives do say it was air conditioned last year, they make no reference to air conditioning for '04 -- so maybe you are both partially right?)
I think the US can beat Italy. The only thing that I would be worried about is if Italy scores first and just uses there boring but effective ball control style. I'm more worried about the Czech Republic, as of Feb 06 they are ranked 2 in the world. The US plays them on June 10th and a loss to them could really hurt the US's chances of advancing.
Just if anybodies interested the US is in Group E Wolrd Rankings of US opponents First Round: Czech Republic....2 Italy.....................12 Ghana..................48 USA.......................6
I know the US is ranked sixth but mostly that is due to playing inferior CONCACAF competition. The Czech Repulblics and Englands of the world would kill Costa Rica if they played them all the time too. I think the US can hope for a draw at best against the Czech team, and then win against Italy and Ghana. I still think even with a loss against the Czechs that they can make it to the knockout round.
US now ranked number 5. I agree that the US could lose to the Czech and still advance. I just think it hurts a teams moral to lose your first game. I'm also worried about Ghana, I feel that they will beat one team in there group. I just hope its not the US.

The score was not as bad as it sounds. The US was missing most of their starters and were using the match to check out a number of players for a few available slots. The Germans had just gotten their butts whipped by Italy, also 4-1, and they brought their A team. The US looked pretty decent though the scoreless 1st half, gave up a tough free kick to start the 2nd, then about 20 minutes later the defense came unglued and gave up 3 in a couple of minutes (Keller looked pissed...). Still I liked the effort of several players who I'm sure got themselves a return trip to Germany come June. Go USA!!
sent an email to info@bonnaroo.com asking if they were gonna show the games, just heard back
"Hello,
Thanks for the interest in this year's event. We will be showing some games of the 2006 World Cup at the festival, but have yet to finalize specific details about the showing. Please be sure to check the website for the latest updates regarding the 2006 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival and the World Cup,
US lost to Morocco yesterday in Nashville 1-0. On top of that Reyna tweaked his hamstring. They play Venezuela on Friday in Cleveland and then Lativa on Sunday in Conn. before heading over to Europe and eventual World Cup dominaton.
