Well, I guess with the sucess of Dierks Bently, they decided to add another one next year in Pat Green. Anyone know much about his live shows?
Pat Green=Bad Country Music
Pretty much people go to his shows to get absolutely blasted off their asses. I've known non-drinkers who were fans of his music that have been pretty turned off by the amount of drinking that goes on.
But yeah, think Jimmy Buffet meets country with just margaritas instead of Margaritaville.
gotta say Ive gotta soft spot for Pat Green "wave on wave", I know the artisitic merit may not be there but it has a certain Restless Hearts /Eagles vibe that I like
I will pass on Pat Green. I did enjoy Charlie Louvin this year though. I'd rather have some classic country like George Jones, Willie Nelson, Stonewall Jackson, or just any bluegrass at Roo. None of that pop country no no.
It's never too early for some rumors I suppose. Here are my guesses.
Friday- Dave Matthews in some capacity. I would think Dave and Friends would be likely. It gets Trey involved. Saturday- Pearl Jam. It has been a rumor for many years, this is the year it happens. They are rumored to be touring next year, it would only make sense. Sunday- Some sort of Dead collaboration or Trey. Tradition holds true.
Longshots- Bruce Springsteen- He will be in the middle of a tour and could easily rock the Friday "old guy" headlining slot. Problem is he has a show that Monday in Europe. Logistically, I don't know if it is possible (although stranger things have happened, most notably Trey coming back for Superjam in '06 after opening for Tom Petty in another city earlier in the evening) Radiohead- rumored to be touring next year, don't know if Roo would have them back to headline so soon. My Morning Jacket- I don't know if they are quite big enough to headline just yet. Led Zeppelin/Pink Floyd- As awesome as either of these would be, no chance.

well i don't know if Brad Paisley counts as main stream but he is effing sick live. He was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry if that makes any difference to you guys. There's only a select few who have been inducted in : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Grand_Ole_Opry_members
Here is one of his songs, "Throttleneck" from this past summers tour...
not only can those dudes play but they have some cool visual effects, ala speed racer for this song. Here's another with the whole visual thing from this song:
Brad Paisley actually writes some pretty humorous songs too, as well as some incredibly touching song. He's the only country guy i'll listen to at this point in time. I listened to old country due to my folks playing it in the car when i was really young, but everyone out right now is annoying and kind of haphazard about their work, except Paisley. Also, If Alison Krauss somehow managed to make her way back to bonnaroo, she could guest on their song "Whiskey Lullaby". Lastly, Brad Paisley was one of the main reasons I ever bought a telecaster.
There's a company, Big Hassle, that takes care of the publicity end of Bonnaroo. Now if you take a look at bands they represent, it may just floor you how many of those groups played Bonnaroo last year. I would keep an eye on that lineup of acts they represent to see if it there are any new additions. It might clue you in on who will be playing Bonnaroo next year...

Big Hassle represents Siouxsie (of Siouxsie and the Banshees)? Can't picture her at Bonnaroo, but I'd love to catch her sometime, and if Vineland's gonna be more Lolla-flavored, I guess there's a better than average chance, eh?

that hurts...but i expected it...guess we'll have to wait for 2009 or 2010...we definitely need some european alternative or classic rock bands though...and it might take at least a couple bands to fill the shoes of radiohead...however, i think led zeppelin would fill those shoes and then some...
well, you ask me why i'm drunk all the time it levels my head and eases my mind i just walk along and stroll and sing i see better days and i do better things

With Zeppelin on the cover of the new Rollingstone (like the Police) id say a major tour is for certain. With that I am almost positive now they will be Bonnaroo bound.

It seems like Anti Records always sends a number of artists(Michael Franti, Xavier Rudd, Neko Case...) So maybe we'll get Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds this year as their releasing a new album.

Nah, I really don't see that. Zeppelin just doesn't seem like a Coachella band... at least not so much as a Bonnaroo band. They are straight hard rock, they jam, and they are very old. Also I think their influence is felt much more in the artists that a common of Bonnaroo rather than those of Coachella. Yeah, I think it'll be Bonnaroo, if anywhere.
Maybe they will headline Roo since they didn't play Woodstock cause they wouldn't have "..just been another band on the bill."
This is from Alison Krauss's Wiki regarding her and Plant's performance for CMT Crossroads to air in 2008: "A Krauss/Plant tour is also planned for 2008"
Not for 2008 but we could one day see The Who headline. They will be touring in 2008 but only in Japan and Australia.
U2 are releasing an album some time in 2008. So maybe if it's before Roo they could kick off a tour there.
And then there's a new Counting Crows album coming March 2008.
It would also be neat to see Blue Man Group maybe headline one night, or just a late night show.
