How big are the camping sites? I heard you have the option to camp by your car. How big is that area? How big are the larger areas? I've been to other festivals, and have found that space was as large as you wanted to be. But the crowd was considerably smaller. I'm coming with a large tent as well one of those canopies for shades. I'm kind of high maintenance when it comes to shelter and temperature, so I will be bringing a lot. I always get too hot or too cold, so I'm trying to regulate at this festival! My boyfriend told me I'm planning on too much, but if the space is available, I will be bringing it. Thanks!
The space isn't going to be just spread out as much as you want, when you go to park there are people guiding you so you don't spread out between cars too much. Officially, in the bonnaroo guide on their web site I think they say it's 10 feet x the width of your car, but it seems there's usually more room than that. Most people bring a tent and a canopy so you should definitely have enough room for both.

We come in a 2-vehicle caravan, and last year set up 4 4-man tents with a central canopy/shade/chill area and had PLENTY of room around us (no cars parked directly behind). We were pretty close to Centeroo too. It's all luck of the draw though - I've heard tell of people getting crammed up. But when you caravan in 2 cars, you get twice as much space as you would w/ one car (obviously).
The key is to park your car correctly so that you can conquer the most space when you pull in to set up. When you get the car parked then you need to get out right away and start claiming your space. We like to have the tents ready as soon as we park to start laying them out and setting up camp. This is also a good time to meet your neighbors and try to negotiate space on what their needs are and yours. This helps so that you do not have a problem and get off to a good start with your neighbors. Last year we had a real jerk beside us and they tried to take our space since we were close to the road way and they wanted to do some vending....They did not even go to Centeroo the whole festival...they were true scumbags who were there to just make money in the camping area and party. They were so strung out one had to leave on friday morning on a bus to go home because of his bad habits
