Originally from the Dallas area, but I am goin' to school at The University of Texas now. Anybody that thinks Texas is full of rednecks is a moron.
By the way, I keep hearing about how hot Bonnaroo is, but Texas is pretty damn hot. We have a good thirty days a year of 100+ degree temperature and I am wondering through past experience if the people complaining about the heat are just yankee northerners, or if it really is just blistering hot.
Who else out there is coming from the lone star state? I couldn't let PA drown us out now could I?

Hmmm, well. It isn't BLISTERING hot but Manchester's average temperature on the festival days looks to be about 85. It may not be too bad for you but then you add the humidity or dust it gets to be pretty intense, especially after 3 days of doing nothing but walking around.
The not sure it's the heat that gets to me, but the Tennessee sun is MUCH different than the Michigan sun!
Until someone from Texas replies, I'll give you my 2 cents as an Oklahoman. I can't put my finger on why it feels more miserable than our (Oklahoma) 100-degree-plus days, but it does. Maybe it is because there's no shade, no wind, no relief. Last year I keenly remember walking to Centeroo on Thursday and Friday thinking, "I'm gonna die in this heat." Once it rained, it was much better, but waking up in the mornings was still pretty steamy. Once that sun starts coming up, you literaly roast in your tent. But, damn, I can't wait to go back!!

i'm from Austin Texas baby, and i do belive that living in texas will prepare you for the heat, but who cares right, cause it's gonna rain anyway. and anyone north of the red river is a yankee.
Yea its really our(the south's) humidity that makes you feel real nasty.
I feel like it gets pretty damn humid in Michigan. I've been to Tennesee before and the sun seems a LITTLE warmer due to being a LITTLE closer to the equator...but I think its just the fact that your walking around in a field with 76,000 other people might make it feel pretty hot.
It also feels warmer because you will be higher in altitude then you are in Texas and the air is thinner (if that makes any sense - but that is part of why it seems hotter)
P.S. Graduated from HS in Lubbock and went to college in Stephenville - I sure do miss Texas!

dude the higher elevation the cooler it is humidity is really the only thing that can make heat seem hotter

Back on to the original topic, my wife and I will be making the road trip to roo from Dallas for our first time. 13 hours on the road there sounds bad, but driving back on Monday is gonna be hell for sure. Oh well, I'm sure it'll worth every bit of it.
