Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
over the next 29 (!) days, I will be conditioning myself for the extremities of Bonnaroo. Each night, I will sleep less and less until by the 16th, I can function fully on only 2 hours of sleep. I will also be wearing my back pack, fully loaded, anytime I am walking around. Anytime it rains from now until the 16th, I will walk around outside, with no rain jacket and possibly even sleep in the rain a few times, just to get myself used to a leaky tent (inevidable for me). I'm even thinking about pumping heat into my house so it is 98 degrees all the time, so I can get used to the non-stop heat. I will only eat one meal a day, and try to only use the bathroom once (maybe twice) a day.
No, you're not a freak. I've been working out like crazy for the past 2 wks to get my endurance up for 'roo (well, I'd been planning on doing it anywaay, 'roo was the prod I needed).

You stole my idea! (Just kidding, man ;D)
Seriously, Bonnaroo will take a lot out of you and if you consider yourself a lazy person, or you do a lot of sitting around, you might want to consider doing some extra walking or some type of exercise to get ready! My body felt like jello and my mental state was severely hindered after 'roo in 2004.
Umm yeah you may want to get in physical shape, but terrapin, your training sounds like you might be completely exhausted by the time roo starts. Good ol outdoor runs will do the trick, maybe even a rainy one. Training or not, once you get the music going, nothing can slow you down.

lol, well, I was really mostly joking around.. I am walking around with my backpack fully loaded, so I can get used to the extra weight.
After just getting back from Coachella where we did essentially the half day festival bit (stayed in a hotel), I can say that for first timers who don't get much exercise (i'm a tech geek, do a lot of sitting), it's probably in your best interest to get some exercise before roo. I came back and joined the local rec center for like $6 a month. Many cities have them.
I've been meaning to get myself in shape for a while, but after experiencing the drain Coachella caused on me (including making me miss half of Daft Punk's set which I'm still kicking myself for), I will not make the same mistake for roo.
I know the music lifts you up, but your body failing on you can really cloud that quite a bit. Your mind alone can't possibly get you through this if your body is utterly unprepared for it as mine was for Coachella.
I've been trying to build up my tolerance Drinking excessively and otherwise. Priorities guys. Priorities ;D
thats the kind of training i'm talking about!!!
it started with my birthday for me and will definately continue through the weekend when i visit friends i haven't seen in months, so what the hell... i'll keep it up till roo and call it practice ;D
and they switched my dorm room on tuesday (byebye my little mouse friends) so I've spent all week lugging all my crap (how did i accumulate so much stuff??) like my refrigerator and tv and other heavy stuff 1/4 mile and up two flights of stairs... so my arms are killing... i wonder if that happens when people lift weights??? if so, i am now totally jacked my endurance is stellar... lol
and dammit i'm still not done moving all my stuff... and it's summer so there is a serious lack of guys (or girls) around to help me lift stuff... i'm about to start grabbing strangers that pass by!!!

yeah, that coachella heat really zaps you... that's why we waited until 4pm each day before heading out... to avoid the heat and also because 8 straight hours of partying is about our limit... I missed the first couple songs of Daft Punk too (also kicking myself - why oh why did I stop at She Wants Revenge on the way to DP?) but luckily I can kinda see what i missed on youtube
There's an 800MB avi of the set that I've downloaded video is decent, audio is a bit distorted with the kick drum, but it's tolerable in the mid-highs. I'll try to burn some DVD's of it and bring them to roo. It was an absolutely amazing act that I can't get out of my head yet. If you can figure out some way to track me down, there may be a DVD in it for you.
I made the mistake on the first day of getting there at 12:30 to see Infusion (which was quite good) and running around all day in the hot desert sun. That, to say the least, was a big mistake. We left early that night becuase our feet just wouldn't hold our bodies up anymore. The second day, we got there at about 1PM but mainly just hung out, preferably in the shade (until Joey Beltran's 140bpm hard techno blasted us out of the dance tent's shade). Sunday went great for us. Guess the lesson is... take it easy during the day, run around and be crazy at night. Seems like a general good rule of life as well

Babel, any chance on telling us where you downloaded that Daft Punk. I have four 5 to 7 minute clips, but they are not contiguous. And I have already fustrated the hell out of myself searching youtube for a full set.
I had been to the last two Chellas, but missed this year, since I am going to the Roo (although I did both in 04 but that zapped the hell out of me financially and mentally). I am still kicking myself for missing Daft Punk, but honestly I thought they would be good, but not that good.
i downloaded it from a link in the coachella forums via bittorent. i can put it up on a server sometime tomorrow. send me a pm and i'll send you a link when it's up. i'd prefer to not have my server flooded with thousands of people at once downloading 800MB, nor to pay the extra bandwidth fees.
I had much of the same reaction going into it as you. I expected it to be good, it completely blew me away how good they sounded and looked.
Favorite side note... watching the reaction of guy sleeping on ground when a 6 foot robot (one of the art exhibits) with spotlights all the sudden faces him... he slowly looks up... then jumps about 2 feet off the ground.
I'll try my best to help you out hosting the video, babel. If you start to get too many requests, just send some of them my way. Once I get it uploaded, I'll send you my link and you can just give it to people if you start to get a few too many requests.
Alternately, 'Rooers looking for the video can send me a PM if you want it. I may not have it up on my server until Saturday, though.
damn, I wish I could've made it to see DP. but being on the east coast with a not-so-good job, I couldn't afford it with bonnaroo.
but I've been training too. last year's roo kicked my ass. I don't want to miss a thing this year. doing as much as I can. even a simple round of disc golf helps. get out 2-3 times a week and you'll be good along with the daily excercise at home.
