Hey everyone third wave productions the company that recorded last years festvial says that Superfly has decided not to release a DVD and CD of Bonnaroo 2005 and not to release anymore DVD's and CD's for the next few years. Instead they will only release select downloads. I am outraged and it is unfair they are doing this to the fans. We pay tons of money and have made superfly Millions of dollars and they screw us over like this. Please let change this by starting a petition. This really pisses me off. I mean at least put all the shows out for download, or maybe even sell the movie by download, I dont know, just anything. I dont know the economics of this so my suggestions may be dumb. Just why keep all that music locked up or something.

anyone knwo the reason why they are not releasing one? I mean they must have been losing money on them, or not making enough to go through the trouble.
Another thing to think about is if they dont release a DVD for a few years they can put out a big fatty one 5 years from now.

They could at least try to give a good excuse and say they lost everything cause the hurricane or something. I want a DVD/CD. It's not fair to us we make them millions each year. Im tell you guys if enough of us email them then they might do something.
I hate to say it because I would love a keepsake from last year's as much as the year before, but they probably NEVER made money on this albatross and it was only a matter of time.
The resources (time, money, energy) put into all the rights wrangling, label deals and sales of these things ultimately killed its ability to make money. This kind of operation (putting on a Roo DVD/CD) is what can get killed by all the sharing that we do as consumers now. Most everyone here can get any performance from last year without paying for it- it's only the DVD that we were likely to buy, and many of us wouldn't need to even pay for that. And let's say that half of all ticketholders last year bought the DVD (which would be surprising when you consider the number of couples, etc)... that is an absurdly low sale volume and not worth it for mass distribution. And if you can't justify distribution, why go through all the record label hoops to get it cleared?
Anyway, sorry to drag market realities in here, but a double DVD and CD every year was unrealistic at best (and everyone complained about band choices anyway). I'm sorry to see it end before getting last years, and I wish a keepsake DVD could be bought independently through their website (and I wouldn't rule that out).

It's because the dvd last year and the year before were not that great. The first dvd and cd were insane. They need to let the fans pick the songs that go on it or vote. Email them and show them. If it wasn't for the dvd/cds in the past years we wouldn't have known about some of the great bands that we all love today.
