So what happened with this last year? I noticed there isn't a KoR this year... The only thing I heard was that some people were upset they wasted their money.
So what happened with this last year? I noticed there isn't a KoR this year... The only thing I heard was that some people were upset they wasted their money.
So what did you get for being in the KoR?
Not much, unfortunately. The chance to buy 2 tickets at the lowest tier for 2005, and only 1 ticket for 2006. The music downloads were months late in arriving, and I don't think they ever offered all 6 promised.
The board was the only thing useful, in my book. Although I thought we might get news before other places, it always seemed that the admins posted the info after everyone else got it.
It paid for itself with the lower-tier tickets, but I wouldn't have dropped any more money down that hole this year...
Added: I forgot about the Krewe DVD, which was very good.
KoR was a total waste of money. It sounded good, and they did put up some roo music for download, but it was only to promote their livebonnaroo website.
The admins there sucked it up real bad. and the dvd was okay, nothing to write home to mom about.
Meeting the people on the KOR board was totally worth it and the DVD is the best Roo DVD made. So yeah, while it was a constant chain of fu*k ups and missed chances, it still was worth it in my book.
Did anyone buy tickets this year through KoR? I did and haven't recieved a tracking number. Needless to say I'm a bit nervous. I checked the account info on the buy tickets link off bonnaroo.com and nothing is there. No response from the email on the site either. If I don't get my roo ticket I'm gonna be pissed.
I don't have strong feelings either way about KoR. It was horribly planned and moderated by Superfly. I feel like I got my money's worth with three first tier tickets, the downloads (which I rather liked; they gave me some sample tracks of artsits I didn't know when the '06 lineup came out), and the DVD make it more than worth it financially for me. They could have done so much more with it, and they truly didn't live up to what they claimed would be included.
I did get an e-mail today about my 1 KoR ticket order, but have not been notified about the other single I bought seperately.
I really liked the glossy schedule... and the DVD. Meeting up on the Krewe website was neat. I dunno, I didn't expect too much and I got a little, so it was okay.
I did a survey on the KOR mb after last years roo and asked if anyone would renew. very few people said they would renew, and then they just shut it down.
the DVD they gave us is the best thing I got from them. It's pretty sweet. It's essentially a 5th disc to the 2004 DVD.
Heck, when I got there last year I forgot to go to the area to pick up the free gift or some thing...by the time I found the tent....there was no one around or any information.....I was like I just wasted a few dollars on a forum that I did not participate in at all.....After that few minutes of feeling screwed, I stumlbe on to another tent and more music...oh well live and learn
Just wanted to add that we also got a couple of on-line artist chats, which was pretty cool. Even more so, if you were one of the people who got to chat with Warren.
**edit** I ordered my ticket through KofR and it is now IN MY HAND! Ticket #11
Krewe of Roo was the first fanclub Music Today has ever created for an entity other than a band or artist. I believe, though I'm not sure, that when MusicToday started humping Superfly a year or two ago, they put together a full package that included this KoR idea. MT still handles all ticketing and customer support for roo.
I think KoR suffered because roo is a once a year event and there isn't enough going on througout the year to support an annual membership. Also, though MT is advanced at creating fanclubs/online artist offerings, they are not very creative and can sometimes be seen as slacking in what they actually deliver.
Yeah, Music Today sucks donkey balls. I'm a member of the Dave Matthews Band fan club (The Warehouse) and I'm still waiting on them to send me my 2005 membership package. It's June of 2006 for Pete's sake!!
