I don't know if anyone else who has sirius radio caught this today but on the station jam on Steph Scamardo did an over the phone interview with Trey about his tour, new album and so on and she asked him "so is the chance of Phish ever getting back together 100% ruled out" Trey's response was "of course not" he then added "everyone need's a break for a minute". I may not have gotten everyones excat words to a T but pretty close. I thought it was nice to hear this come out of Trey's mouth and not just a bunch of rumors that go around, gives us all some hope!!! ;D ;D

It does raise hope but i have a feeling that his statement is just going to fuel all the rumours that are already pretty rampant and might just get peoples hopes up for nothing... Perhaps Trey should remember that when he says something, we're all still listening, perhaps more than ever... God knows what we all want to hear but theres too much speculation about this flying around for Trey to be toying with our heads even more... We'll see what happens though, it could be a sign, but im pretty sure alot of people are going to take it as more of a sign than it really is...
Who's got my recording/transcript of this interview anyway???
Im a real late bloomer when it comes to being a phish phan, ive always liked them, but i never knew how much until this past year, when i went on my phish journey . . . . . . .so my question is, was the break up an ugly situation?? Was it something that would lead everyone to believe that a reunion wouldnt ever happen?

IT wasnt an ugly situation but they swore up and down it was final and that was it... They said this isnt like the hiatus this is for real its over etc... But in a few Trey interviews i've read he seems to beat around the bush about how he's bummed that they broke up, and other member made statements that sounded like they werent to happy about it at the time of the breakup... I dont think anyone knows the real details about anything though... Theres a good Trey interview in Relix a few months back if you can dig it up...

it wasnt really ugly, just hard to deal with after the hiatus and everything. The music wasnt as consistent and with a couple of exceptions the new material was weak. There were definitely some stellar jams and solid shows post hiatus, but the music could go from mindblowing to down right sloppy in a single jam. You cant do what they did without regular practice.

The gradual decrease in practice from like 12-16 hours a day to 0 hours even definitely hurt their game. That's what happens when you get married, have kids, have press stuff to do b/c your band is big now, pick up drug habits, etc.
It's worth mentioning that Mike felt like they could rejuvenate themselves w/o breaking up, and was the only member who felt that way.

That's cause Mike is the man. Personally, I hope they don't come back for a while, unless Trey's ready to put everything in it. At Coventry, it really seemed like he was the one that wasn't giving his all. He was the one missing notes all over the place, occasionally getting it right. I know they'll get back together eventually, but there's plenty of other things, going on in music, that I don't really feel the need for them, right now. Heresy I know.

i just listened to the interview, holy crap! Phil/Trey/mike/the duo, this is as good as it friggin gets man! Im gonna have to hit a couple shows this july. Its also good that trey confirmed what we all hope for, and it seems like that will happen in time, when its supposed to. id rather see this buisness in july than another sloppy reunion. its gonna be fresh and exciting to see all our boys rockin out together. I hope they play deer creek

That would be great. Now lets hope they actually practice this time before they come back.
Haha.
Yes, you are so right. I went to a few of the shows when they reunited last time. I love Phish and I have seen them many times, all the way back to 1992, but they did not have it together that tour. They hadn't practiced, and it was obvious.
There were points where I was almost embarrassed for them.
When they do a tour, they need to practice, write some new material together to stay fresh, and put their hearts into it more this time.
Go ahead and flame me for saying it, but listen to those shows, and you'll see what I mean.
