Just because you dont open the car door doesnt make you nto a gentleman. I gladly open all building doors for women. However, opening the car door, watching them get in, closing the door, then walking around to your door, is just awkward and desperate. This is 1960 anymore. Women want to be equal, then they can open their own car doors :-P
As someone who has had a car door opened for them a few times, I will tell you that I never once thought it was awkward or desperate.
Chivalry isn't dead yet. And how long does it take to walk around a stupid car? What less than 10 seconds? How awkward is it sitting in a car for 10 seconds waiting for a gentleman to walk around the car? As a man I have never been on the receiving end of a door opening.
I don't mind when getting in car, but weird to wait for someone to walk around.
I've actually never experienced that while getting out of a car, haha. It would be kind of funny to sit there waiting for him to open it. I meant when getting into a car.
I literally always open the door for my wife, car or otherwise. It has gotten to the point that she expects it, and waits for me to do it.
I am bad about inadvertently rushing to a door without thinking and making it awkward. I open it, but I get that "oops" feeling.
I have gotten pretty good about it with others. Some women prefer to open the door, and I try to make it comfortable. Where I run into trouble is the walking on the street side of a sidewalk. Downtown, it can sometimes get awkward when I switch sides, especially if the woman is not use to it. Chivalry is not dead yet, but it is dying.

I never said to close it too. Jeez. It's okay to admit that you're lazy and/or an a*hole.

I can tell from the still shot its's the scene from A Bronx Tale where Chazz gives his protege a tip on how to see if the lady is worth keeping. He opens the door for her. When he goes to the other side he is supposed to see if she unlocks the door for him as well. I think that is how it went.

When I was younger I had a friend who did this. We weren't on a date, just hanging out, and I would always unlock his door. He said I was one of few girls who actually did it. I guess I've just always been old-fashioned/instinctively did nice things for others. I guess I just assume people go out of their way to do nice things for others, because I do.

A lady just screamed at me because she tried to return a book that she bought in September. *It's March for anyone who's bad with months*
Legally I'm not allowed to return books b/c of photocopiers but sometimes we'll make an exception if its a few days....this woman was livid even though were pushing 6 months.
She claimed it was never used and it was clearly torn apart. The ignorance of people really amaze me sometimes.
Best thing to do to keep it less awkward when you're walking around the car is pull a dukes of hazzard slide across the hood. If she's not impressed by that there's no pleasing her anyways, that's my test.
