It's at a dollar theater. I work in a shady part of town called Antioch. The theater evidently has a police officer on duty. For obvious reasons. Dude walked in while Mad Max was playing. Started shooting and the officer killed him.
And they are saying it is outside of Nashville. It's not. We are part of Nashville. They just would prefer our part went away.

Are you guys on lockdown?
Antioch is its own town, so not technically Nashville.

Nope. We are Nashville. Lavergne and Smyrna are their own towns.

Yeah, the article I see is saying one injured.
He sprayed people with the pepper spray. And someone may have been hurt with the machete hatchet he carried.
My fiance has been feeling like shit for the last year, and couldn't figure out why. Turns out he's a diabetic. Thankfully the doc thinks it's early enough that diet/lifestyle change will be enough and he won't need insulin. This comes as a shock cause he's an otherwise healthy 35 year old.
It's good that we finally know what's wrong, but all in all still a major fucking grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

What symptoms was he having? I don't really have the symptoms I've found on the "you may have diabetes if..." web pages, but I've found my overall well-being to be tied to when and what I eat, even outside of just being hangry. Some days I just totally crash around midafternoon. I don't really know how to explain it other than I know that something feels different than it used to be.

Pain and numbness in his extremities, his legs would get wicked painful if he was standing for too long, overall fatigue and lack of energy.

Definitely a bummer, but glad to hear it seems like Type 2 Diabetes. One of my best friend's dad had it pretty bad but worked hard on diet and excercise and has been doin' great without medication anymore I believe.

Was going on a family trip to the grandparents this morning. Got an email from Southwest last night around 11PM saying our direct flight at 8this morning was canceled. Spent an hour on hold last night to get it rebooked for Sunday(the first available flight) that leaves late in the day, has a long ass layover, and arrives late at night. So, we lost a day of vacation, get to spend 11 hours travelling instead of 4, and the Southwest customer service guy just kinda responded with "yeah, that sucks bro."
I've always preferred Southwest just because I felt like less of a commodity to them than other airlines, but this was really irksome. Especially since it means I definitely won't make the umphreys McGee show tonight.

Wow that is pure BS. I'm sorry you lost a day of your vacay and show! Hope the travel isn't too painful.
i've been trying for a long time to get over an ex that really fucked me up. have him blocked on my phone, email, FB etc.
today i get a message from him on okcupid and I just can't even with it. he has a gf of almost two years, what is he even doing on there besides being a sketchy asshole?
i don't understand what he is getting out of this.

Sick pleasure in knowing he is messing up your day. Delete that shit and move on.

Take a screen shot and send to his girlfriend.
Was about to suggest precisely that. Karma is a bitch
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

This is going to be the least consequential GRRR post ever...
But, I've been growing my hair out for almost 2 years. I've gotten it cut twice to trim it up, last time was in November. Every time I come back to my parents house (which is a fair amount because my nephews and niece live 5 minutes away and I like to be an uncle), my parents would comment on how terrible my hair looks. My mom started texting me pics of when my hair was shorter and raving about how "cute" I was in those pics.
Yesterday, my dad bribed me to cut my hair by buying me tickets to take my mom to the Pirates-Dodgers game. I can be bought (always and forever), so I agreed. I figured people would stop talking about my hair.
Well, the haircut sucks so badly I'm close to crying about it it, and all everyone is doing is talking about my quacking hair. I give up.

Katy Mae that sucks but I'm glad they finally figured it out. I found out in April that I'm "insulin resistant", or in non-medical terms, pre-diabetic. I've been trying really really hard to lose weight (down 18 lbs so far) and I've been concentrating on eating better and cutting out bad sugar and carbs. The doctors have put me on Metformin to help with my insulin utilization and it's helping so far, I think. Jaz, that may be something to have your doctors check out. Ask them to test your AC1 hemoglobin to see what your number is. I also get shaky if I don't eat every few hours.
My random GRRR for today is that I'm grouchy and hurt. I sliced up my thumb pretty bad cutting onions last night. It hurts pretty bad, and when I took the band-aid off this morning, it reopened the wound and began bleeding badly again. I have it wrapped up tight now but my thumb is pretty useless today in its bandage cocoon. Honestly I probably needed a few stitches but I was too frustrated/grouchy to bother with the urgent care clinic.

I really just want to be at the beach.
If you were here I would have sutured it up for you and then we would be at the beach today. <3 you!
I hate the culture of HR/Hiring Managers/Recruitment with employee seekers. I didn't get declined for anything recently, so it's not sour grapes. There has been a position to open up that I am very interested in, but I'm employed ATM so it's not a big deal if it don't work out. I just don't understand how it became acceptable for organizations to send out an automative email after somebody apply's that usually says something along the lines of "Thank you for applying, we will let you know eventually." I understand that for the average open job position there is usually a higher number of applicants and that organizations are usually trying to fill more than one position, but there is better ways to go about it. Would an email from an actual person who gives you information about the process, how quick they're looking to fill the position, and a reference if you have questions be too much to ask? Also, I think it's hilarious that these job sites want you to pay for them to be useful to you. TeamWork is an online employment site that focuses on jobs in professional sports. You can look and apply for any jobs via them for free, but they offer a "MVP" deal in which they will automatically bump you to the front of an employers list of applicants (sorry to the one who applied first or is most qualified, this guy gave us money!) and they will notify you when an employers has opened your materials and looked at your resume. They want a $65 non-refundable charge, then $5 a month to continue using that service. At least LinkedIn will you let try their premium services for free before trying to charge you.
Prayers and good vibes on the way. Hopefully, you'll find something soon. Also, you might want to try flexjobs.com. The downside is you have to pay to see the full job posting but my wife has found some job leads through there.
