Hey, it's all in good fun. As a Boston fan, I have to dislike the Habs. I harbor no ill will towards any of their fans and recognize they are a talented team.
I may just be talking to empty space here - not sure how many people follow NHL on here.
The Boston Bruins are pathetic. Absolutely no effort at all last night - went to a goddamn shootout playing one of the worst teams in the league. With Tuukka Rask starting. I'm starting to feel bad for him. He's an amazing goaltender, and it would be great if he actually had a team to back him up. The shots last night during that shootout were pathetic - even Rask was laughing at them. Some trades need to be made and fucking Chiarelli needs to go. He's just made some bad decisions. If the Bruins don't make the playoffs this year, I could see a complete restructuring of the organization. They are just playing lazy hockey all around, and it's becoming a chore to watch them struggle every single week.
And fuck the Habs.
Sorry about your Bruins, but I honestly can't feel that bad for a Boston sports fan at this moment. The big four Boston teams have had so much success over the last 15 years. Try being a fan of the New York Mets, New York Jets, and New York Islanders. Speaking of which, I'm elated about the magical season the Islanders are having. I was worried they might unravel after the Okposo injury, but they've shown so much resilience these last two weeks.

Well, I guess I can see that logic. However, hockey is the only sport I really get into and I love this team. It makes me sad to see them on the decline. Rask is my favorite player, and it just makes me sad to see him trying and just getting frustrated with this team to the point of giving up. He literally said "I'd seen enough." when asked about him missing the save during the 12th round of the shootout against Buffalo.

Okposo is a beast! It took him a few years to get going, but he was great last year and this year before the injury.
I'd ask you but I figured you don't remember, and I don't have the time to go back and see the last time the Islanders finished that high. I kid, I kid.

Haha, no worries. I was just messing. Honestly, with such a talented roster, the Pens are always the team to beat in the Metropolitan Division. I'm just happy the Islanders are giving them and Rangers a run for their money this year.
RIP Harris Wittels. Comedian, Parks and Rec writer, and creator with Scott Aukerman of the legendary Analyze Phish podcast, which I've listened to multiple times. He was an admitted drug addict who by all accounts had kicked, was even talking about it at a show he did last night.

Dude brought a shit ton of joy into my life.
That's really sad. I just found out who he was a couple months ago because he was on Doug Loves Movies with Sarah Silverman (he wasn't on it a couple months ago; I just listened to it then).

I just saw this on FB and my stomach dropped hard. I first heard him on Analyze Phish or Who Charted? and immediately sought out every podcast he'd ever been on. I have zero interest in Phish and yet loved that pod. He was always so funny and engaging and seemed like such a nice chill dude. The last time I heard him he was talking about having done rehab and getting shit back on track. Fuck that's so sad.

This is the first celebrity death I have actually cried about. He was so candid about his struggles with addiction that it makes the news all the more tragic. RIP Wittels. Thanks more making everyone laugh a million times.

Yea, pretty upset about Wittels. He had a lot of potential and made me laugh a ton on podcasts. I was excited to see where he went after Parks & Rec. So tragic.

I was surprised at how hard it hit me too. Maybe because it feels like he's had such a personal impact. I listened to those Analyze Phish podcasts to and from Phish shows all the time. Made me laugh and more than anything else made me question why I love this silly band, and live music in general. He did a fantastic job at describing the current obsessive online culture with regards to live music.
Whenever he'd pop up on parks and rec in a small part, always with his Phish shirt on, I'd get so excited, and start blabbing to my wife about how "hey he's a phish fan in real life!"
As a guy with a good bit of sobriety myself I was so happy for him when he talked about getting clean after the Hollywood Bowl shows. I just knew with a clear head and heart he was going to go on to even greater success in the industry.
90% of the people I follow on twitter are comedians, and I was moved last night scrolling through my feed by how many lives he touched, I didn't realize all the relationships he had with other comedians. People were retweeting his past tweets and they made me laugh out loud and feel sad at the same time.

On some other sites I saw people say things like "This hit me harder than Robin Williams" and I think part of the reason is that Robin Williams had a long career with a lot of triumphs and great roles. Harris was just getting started and had a lot of potential. He was cut down in his prime as opposed to some other big names who pass away at an older age.
I felt like between Parks & Rec, Comedy Bang Bang (Farts and Procreation are the best), and Analyze Phish really made me a huge fan of his and whatever else he was going to be working on. HUmblebrag and Foam Corner were always usually funny. ANd we'll never get to see more from him which is why it hurts. It's like a band you started to fall in love with breaking up right as your excited for their future.

"This is Harris. He's been to over 200 Phish shows."
"Ha, try 308."
And yea, he definitely was at the epicenter of a great group of comedians. I wonder what they'll do for him on Comedy Bang Bang this week? Also Joe Mande's tweets have been perfect:
I met Harris in 2002 & sought his approval ever since. He was the most effortlessly funny person I've ever known. He'd hate all these tweets
I wish Harris could know how many of his friends sat together tonight to listen to Phish and talk about his sexual exploits
Goddammit Harris the Westboro Baptist Church just called you a "fag enabler” and you’re not here to see it
This really fucking sucks. Like itrainmonkeys said it felt like he was just getting started. Ugh. I hope he's at peace wherever he is.

Its a similar feeling to when Hedberg passed I think. Another amazing talent cut down right in the middle of his rise.
Maron reposted his 2013 WTF interview with Wittels today. I can't bring myself to listen to it, I always have a hard time listening to stuff like that right after a celebrity passes. Still haven't listened to the Robin Williams WTF and I understand its fantastic.
But I did listen to Marc's talk at the beginning of the podcast just now. He says he couldn't help but notice how cavalier they were in talking about drug use. Marc has been clean for a while now, and at the time Harris hadn't hit that dark place in his using yet.
While for most of us it can be a lot of fun to party, its important to remember for some it can lead to terrible places, especially with opiates. The key is being able to recognize when you have a problem, and taking the necessary action towards getting better.
Remember there are people on inforoo in recovery and are willing to offer whatever help they can if you are struggling with addiction. I got friends in recovery all over the southeast and can usually hook someone up with a cool local friend in recovery that can take you to a meeting or just talk. Anyone can PM me anytime if you just want to talk. Admitting you might have a problem and talking to some stranger about it may feel socially awkward, but its a hell of a lot better than dying.
I just remembered that target laid off about 500 people like a week ago. fuck. the job market is going to be flooded. what a shitty time to have to start looking for a job.

1. 500 people had their lives changed and I certainly feel for them. That sucks but for the market size, it doesn't really make much of an impact on new jobs receiving a flooding of candidates due to the layoff. 2. Based on your previous posts about your job, I can't imagine a lot of the layoffs are people who are in the same line of work and seniority level who are now your competition for jobs. 3. PM me your email address if you want, I look at resumes 50 hours a week and can provide help if you want. I've helped others on Inforoo and I enjoy doing it. No pressure.
that's awesome! thanks billybaroo! I'm going to work on it over the weekend, so I'll PM you when I get it all fixed up
and you're probably right about the amount of actual competition. but it's pretty much everyone who was working on target canada, so it could be a lot of experience levels that were eliminated in this layoff.
Count me among those pretty rattled by his death. These things usually don't affect me but podcasts are such an intimate form and Harris was so likable. Ugh. On a better note, last night I realized I have some CBBs of his I've yet to listen to. RIP to a kind and creative dude who made me laugh countless times.

The deaths in mafia are supposed to be fictional and in fun, not in real life to friends/family of multiple players during the same game. Condolences, thoughts and prayers to those affected.

My car started leaking a fuckton of oil today. I drove it to the shop and they're gonna look at it tomorrow. I'm nervous.
Just got the call from the shop - he said it was (bear with me here, I don't do cars) a blown gasket behind the oil filter. I don't know what that means, but he's able to fix that as well as replace a few lightbulbs I had out and give it an oil change for $180. I'm very relieved; this could have been much worse.
